Leroy was in his quarters, working on packing everything. His portable furnace and anvil were already packed in his shuttles small cargo bay. He didn't know if his new Captain would allow him to use the equipment he had grown to know and love, but sometimes he was known to go a little over board on making blades. Even more often he would spend hours he was supposed to be sleeping making and boring out a barrel or carving a pistol grip or rifle stock.
He had already built and assembled a Single Action Navy, a gift he was going to give this new Commodore. Shaking his head, he tossed most of his old uniforms, ones that had been created with the Gunnery Sergeant rank embroidered on them. With his promotion, he was going as far as he was going to get.
Marines didn't often get as high as he had, at this early of an age. At least not people who weren't entirely battle tested. All of his posts had been peaceful, a couple of random encounters, making sure that ships coming in and going out weren't harassed, and one Ferengi going rouge, other than that he was almost completely untested.
Throwing a Spanish rapier into his Sea Bag, he cinched it and tossed it into the corner where two other lay. His quarters, where he had been for almost eight months, were bare once again. Pictures were packed, flight gear and even his new uniforms were packed away. He was dressed in a pair of khaki slacks and a shimmering silver polo style shirt.
"Master Sergeant, we're almost ready for your final goodbye," A younger Corporal said knocking on the open door jam. "And your fighter is prepped. Engineers have done final checks, and Kathryn is green." Leroy smiled and nodded.
"Alright Corporal, I'll be down in the bar in a few minutes. Is someone grabbing my gear to put it in the cargo hold or am I stuck lugging it down?"
"I've got a couple green horns that are going to lug it down and load you up Master Sergeant."
"Very good, give me five minutes and I'll be down there."
