Mission: Tabula Rasa

ON

[Bridge]

Maria was taking a turn on the bridge at the science station as Lieutenant Khalpek had left the ship at Athena Shipyards. She didn't mind the change of pace as it gave her a chance to see what was going on with the ship as a whole.

The external sensors began to pick up an unexpected reading. "Captain, it looks like there's an inhabited planet up ahead. I'm getting a technological signature."

"Helm, take us closer. Ensign Delgado, continue scanning, see if you can get more information."

"Aye Captain, moving in for a closer look." Drex's hands flew over the console as he instructed the massive star ship to head towards the planet."Would you like me to set up a standard orbit once in range Captain?"

"Yes. If there's a technologically-advanced civilization out here, I'd like to know more."

"Captain, the signal indicates stellar communication, but I'm detecting no intelligent life on the planet. Lots of flora and fauna, but no humanoids," Maria said.

Sam turned to her and nodded. "Okay, so we may be looking at an ancient civilization. Continue scanning. I want to know if it's safe to send down an away team."

"Aye, ma'am."

Sterling was approaching the bridge, the was technically off duty and should have been headed back to his quarters, but instead he wanted to check things out.

He stepped off the turbolift and took a tentitive step into the bridge, "Permission to come on to the bridge?" hea asked.

"Granted," Sam said. You can help at security or tactical."

[Elsewhere on the ship]

Gaia was prepping a new main course from the recipe she had received from Apu. She lifted the spoon to her lips for a taste. "Hmmm, touch more heat I think and something sweet would be served with it to help temper it." Gaia pursed her lips in thought as she wondered what vegetable would go. "Perhaps a orange potato, sweetened or a rice dish." She said softly to herself.

Mandy had nothing to do in sickbay, so she headed to see what she could find for food. She found herself in the kitchen, smelling something... Interesting. "What is that?" She asked the woman who was cooking it.

"First why our you in the Lounge's kitchen and secondly..." Gaia grinned "Would you like to try some?"

[Bridge]

Sam tapped the comm link on her armrest. "York to Hunter. We're approaching a planet that used to hold an advanced race of some kind. Can you see if there's any information on it?"

The turbolift doors opened as Max walked out in full uniform. "I hate to break it to you, Commodore, but Intel's got nothing." He walked over to Sam and stood next to her as he looked over to the view screen. He looked over to her slightly and spoke softly. "You'll forgive me, but I was never comfortable with sitting at a desk and getting relayed information. I prefer to be in the middle of things."

"You're always welcome here, Admiral," Sam said, smiling at Max. She was still getting used to having him on board as her Acting Chief Intelligence Officer, but she was beginning to relax more around him and appreciate his expertise.

Max tapped a button on the PADD he walked in with and an image of Tallas appeared. "Tallas? Have you finished going through all information intercepted in this area?"

"Yes, Admiral... I mean Max. I got nothing." Tallas replied from the PADD.

Max looked back to Sam with a bit of a smirk. "See.. I told you."

Tallas continued, speaking from the PADD. "This is uncharted territory as far as the Federation is concerned. One account from a Tellarite Cargo Vessel that actually made it out this far a long time ago, and this is about the only thing thats worth mentioning, the old reports make note of an encounter with a freighter type vessel that didn't answer their standard hails. They just shrugged it off as a species that wanted nothing to do with them." She giggled slightly and continued. "Might have been a species that knew better then to talk to a Tellarite."

"Keep looking, Ensign." Max replied with a slight smile as he looked over to Captain York. "Give her a few hours, Commodore. I am sure she will find something useful."

"Thank you. Let me know if you and Tallas find anything else." She nodded to an empty chair on the bridge. "And feel free to stay if you like."

[Marine Deck]

Down in Marine Country, Cam watched at the junior enlisted were put through some parade drills. He was relieved that the whole nightmare mess had been dealt with and he could get back to whipping his Marines into a fighting Regiment.

Kara watched from up in the bleachers. She was still on mandatory rest, but for her sitting and watching WAS rest. Besides, she liked watching Cam work.

Damon and the three Marines assigned to him kept to themselves in a small office out of the way. Currently they huddled around a holographic computer and were running through lines of programming code. None of them spoke much, which suited Damon just fine.

(HELM: Drop us out of warp and set a standard orbit around the planet.)

"Captain, there's an abandoned compound of of some kind and there's an underground bunker. The technology seems to be coming from there."

"Thank you, Admiral," Sam said.

She turned to her XO, "Commander Vance, prepare an away team. Find out what's down there."

"Admiral I need two of your men if you can spare them. Lieutenant Lynx, follow me."

=^=Vance to Lieutenant's Delgado and Lavender, meet me in transporter room two we will be transporting down to the alien planet."

"On my way," Maria said. She put away the experiment she'd been working on, grabbed her bag and headed for the transporter room.

Lavendar grabbed a med-kit and tri-corder and headed towards the transporter room. She arrived moments later and flashed Maria a grin.

Maria smiled back. She was looking forward to finding out more about the former inhabitants of the planet.

Eamon feeling good to be back to normal and was at Tactical while the ship arrived at the world they were now investigating. He then heard the first officer order him to follow her to the transporter room. "Aye," he replied and accompanied Vance into the turbolift.

Before the transporter chief could beam them down to the planet, there was a bright light and everyone on the ship disappeared.
