"Then we don't tell anyone," she said. "Max, I'd marry you tonight and have no regrets." Her gaze was warm and confident.

"Careful." Max smirked and leaned his forehead to hers. "Now your starting to think like me."
"Is this a good thing?" she asked, chuckling. "So, Max, I think it's your turn to be blunt and tell me what you want."
Max looked into her eyes and smiled. "I want you to marry me, Admiral Burke and be my classified wife."
Kathryn's eyes shone with happiness as she leaned forward and kissed Max again. For a moment she wondered why she'd resisted doing just that for such a long time.
When the kiss ended she looked up at Max and smiled. "Then there's just one thing left to do."
She tapped her combadge. "Burke to York. Could you please meet me in Admiral Hunter's quarters?"
There was a brief pause before Sam answered. "On my way."
Max laughed softly. "Is there anything you want to do before we make this official?"
"We should contact our kids. At least let them watch -- and swear them to secrecy," she said, knowing he would be concerned about that.
Sam arrived two minutes later and rang the chime.
Max walked over to the door and tapped the button on the side, unlocking the doors. He smile, seeing Sam and gave her a nod. "Commodore." He said in his usual charming voice, before walking over to Kathryn and continuing. "We have something we would like to talk to you about."
Sam looked from one Admiral to the other. The emotions in the room were almost palpable. "How can I help you?"
"Well, remember how you and Colonel Raine came to me about getting married and keeping it confidential?" Kathryn started.
"Yes..."
Kathryn looked to Max and then back to Sam. "We'd like you to return the favor."
"You what?" Sam asked, wanting to be absolutely sure she'd heard right.
"Max and I would like you to marry us. Tonight."
There was a moment of silence as Max stood there waiting for the shock to settle before speaking. "No rush, Commodore." He said in a sarcastic tone as he looked to Kathryn, then back to York. "Whenever your ready. It's not like we wanted to do this now, or anything." He chuckled slightly and smirked.
"Now?" Sam looked at the two. "Okay. Now." She ran a hand through her hair. "We need two witnesses."
"Like actually witnesses or would someone watching from a comlink work?" Max replied with a smirk.
"Someone watching from a comlink will be fine," Sam replied. "Let me go back to my quarters and grab the proper paperwork. I'll be back in a few minutes."
She slipped quickly out the door, surprised by the request. But, as she and Damon had done something similar the year before she wasn't going to say anything about it. It appealed to the romantic in her to think that the two Admirals were, in essence, eloping.
When Sam was gone, Kathryn turned to Max. "Do you want to get one witness and I'll get the other, or should we just get our kids to be the witnesses?"
"This is the second time you brought up are kids? Are you sure you want to break the news to them so quickly?" Max laughed softly and took her hands in his.
"I don't think the girls would forgive me if I left them out of this. I think they'll understand -- I hope they'll understand. Either way, I trust them."
Max looked at her with a smile and nodded. "I trust my kids, and someone else. She is like a daughter to me. I wouldn't mind if she sits witness."
"Okay. You talk to your kids and I'll talk to mine."
Kathryn disappeared into the bedroom to inform her daughters and to change into something a little more appropriate for the occasion. When she returned, she was wearing a lavender-colored tea-length dress. She carried a small bunch of lilacs and forget-me-nots.
"I think I'm ready," she said, walking up to Max.
Max stood there in one of his classy and well maintained suits. He had his hair combed back and got rid of the small amount of stubble, just to look perfect. He wanted this to be all perfect. "You look great, Kathryn." He said with a smile as he adjusted his suit jacket and shirt.
Sam returned a short while later. She took the time to dress in her formal uniform and track down the proper licenses for a wedding. Even a private wedding needed to have the proper paperwork filled out.
She noticed that not only had the two Admirals changed, but there were now viewscreens with six guests for the wedding. "I see you're ready," she said to the couple. "Do you have your witnesses?"
"My daughter, Kris, is my witness. She's the oldest," Kathryn said. She would have liked to use all three of her daughters, but chose to stick to just the one.
All three girls could be seen on one of the viewscreens. The blonde waved. "Hi! I'm Kris."
Max gave her a slight wave and turned on his other screen. "My youngest, Diana is my witness. The brunette with glasses waved her hand and smiled. "Well... lets get started then." He smiled taking Kathryn's hands in his.
Sam nodded. She slipped a PADD into the computer and quickly sent it to the two witnesses. "If you would please sign the document?"
When the document was signed, Sam pulled out the PADD and turned to Max and Kathryn. "Admirals, if you would as well. It won't be official until I sign it, but it makes the process easier."
Max and Kathryn affixed their thumb prints to the PADD and handed it back to Sam.
Sam was not one for flowery speeches, so chose to keep it brief, using the ceremony that had been used by ship Captains for centuries.
≈"And now, by the power vested in me by Starfleet Command and the United Federation of Planets, I pronounce you husband and wife." She grinned at the two. "You may kiss the bride."
