Mission: What Dreams May Come?
Location: Kara's quarters

ON

Kara woke early, as usual, but this morning she felt more rested than she had in a long while. For the first time in weeks she didn't have a nightmare. It was wonderful. But not quite as wonderful as the man lying next to her.

She rolled onto her side and kissed Cam on the shoulder before sitting up and looking for her clothes.

After a few moments, Cam Suddenly jerked awake in yet another cold sweat. He'd had another bad dream and waking up in an unfamiliar room didnt help matters. Sitting up slowly, Cam looked around and after a moment, he got his bearings and remembered where he was, "Kara?" He called, not seeing her in the room

Kara stepped out of the bathroom, still wearing a towel. "I'm here, Cam," she said softly.

Cam took a few deep breaths to slow his heart beat a little before skidding out of bed. Walking over to Kara, Cam put his arms around her shoulders, "last night, you were great"

She wasn't quite sure how to react to that. "Cam, what's wrong?" She'd noticed his breathing, that he'd clearly woken in a sweat.

Cam shook his head and smiled, "it's nothing, just a bad dream. Looks like you got a good nights sleep, I didn't wear you out did I?"

"I'm a Marine. It takes more than one night with a sexy man to wear me down," she teased.

Cam grinned playfully, "well than, I must be loosing my touch" he said, running his hand down her side, "mind if I use your shower?"

"Be my guest." She gave him a quick kiss. "I'll get breakfast ready. Do you have any preferences?"

"Steak, bacon, sausage and eggs, hard boiled. You know, a basic breakfast" Cam said, replicating a large towel and walking into the bathroom.

"A basic breakfast for a fire team, maybe," she shot to him as she went to get dressed.

After a quick sonic shower, Cam came out with the towel wrapped around his waist, "ah, much better"

Kara finished putting the replicated meal on the table and turned to look at Cam, grinning. "Well, I think so, but I'm not sure of the other Marines would like to see you walking around in just a towel."

Cam laughed for a moment, "yea, you're right" he said, walking over to the replicator and ordering up a fresh uniform. He didn't really need a new one, but he wasn't going to walk all the way back to his quarters wearing only a towel. After the pants and shirt had finished, Cam quickly put them on while the replicator worked on his jacket, "hay Kara, have you ever tried your hand at cooking?" He asked, picking up his jacket and sliding it on

"On a hotplate, yeah. But not for a while. Why? Do you cook?" she asked.

"Most of the time, yea. I started cooking for my unit when we were on patrol. You know how bad those field rations are, but just add a little oregano and....."

"Really? I'd love to try your cooking some time," she said. "For now, you'll have to make do with replicated food."

"We'll have to book some holodeck time sometime" Cam said, sitting down at the table, taking in the smell of breakfast

She poured them each a drink and sat down. "What sort of program?" Her breakfast was a little lighter than his. Bacon and eggs, yogurt and fruit.

"Nothing special, just a nice picnic in the country somewhere"

She cocked her head to one side. "That sounds nice. When do you want to go?" she asked. She picked up a strip of bacon and took a bite out of it. It wasn't quite as good as if she cooked it herself, but it wasn't too bad. "Okay, so once day we'll have to go camping and cook over an open fire."

"How about tomorrow night, around 1900?" Cam suggested. He knew that things would be quiet for a while in the Barracks with everyone catching up on sleep and, barring any incidents in the bar, he'd be able to get the time off for both of them, "what do you think?"

She paused to look at him, the expression in her eyes soft and warm. "I think that would be perfect."

"Excellent, I'll book the holodeck" Cam said, planning it out i his head, what he'd cook, the whole thing

Kara finished her meal and began to clean up her dishes. She was looking forward to the evening ahead. She dumped her dishes in the reclamator to be recycled and cam back to Cam. "Is there anything else I can get you?"

Cam smiled, "I had it last night, I just don't know where I put it" he said, standing up, walking over to Kara and grabbing hold of her waist, "ah, there it is"

Kara chuckled softly, wrapped her arms around Cam's neck, and kissed him. "You know, you keep this up I may not let you go."

Cam Smirked, "hmm, tempting"

"You're the one that's tempting. But I should keep the boss away from his duties," she said, sighing.

Cam thought for a moment, "why don't we take the day? I'm sure they can survive without us"

"I'm trying to be altruistic and you're not helping." She chuckled softly. "But when it comes to spending time with you, I'm afraid I can't avoid the temptation. So I will leave it up to you." She glanced back over to the bed and then at Cam.

Following her line of sight, Cam sighed, "I'd love to stay in, but I can't. I've got to much work to do" he said, before leaning down and kissing Kara on the cheek, "take the day, get some rest. I'll see you after my shift"

"Thanks, but I'd rather work." She wanted something to help the time pass until evening.

Cam shrugged, "alright, if you feel up to it, you can run Alpha and Bravo through some drills on the holodeck. Team on team combat, you can choose the arena"

She nodded as she grabbed her BDU blouse. "I can do that. Alpha Platoon could use the distraction."

Cam laughed, "don't count Bravo out so easily, you might find they're more of a challenge than you think"

"I'm Alpha Platoon leader. Of course I think my guys will come out on top. They're well-trained."

Cam smiled, "then maybe I should even the odds"

A slow smile spread across Kara's face. "If you're up for the challenge. It might be nice to see you back in a training situation."

Cam raised an eyebrow, "what's that mean? I'm not that much out of practice. I did rescue you from that prison on the holodeck"

"Yes, you did, and I'm very grateful for it. I still think I can take you," she said.

Cam smirked, "after your performance last night, I don't doubt it, but I think the others might get a bit suspicious if you suddenly jumped on top of me during a combat sim"

Kara chuckled softly and wrapped her arms around his neck. "Lover, if I jump you during training, I'll make sure to subdue you properly."

Cam smiled, "oh really? Well that gives me a reason to throw the fight" he joked, leaning down until his forehead touched Kara's, "I better go. I'll see you tonight?"

Kara kissed him one last time and stood back. "See you tonight."
