Mission: What Dreams May Come?

ON

It was late and Kara couldn't sleep so she decided to stop by the enlisted lounge for a drink. Perhaps it would give her enough of a break to get to sleep. Tomorrow the ship was going to try and uncover the entity, but for tonight she was in need of some company. She just hoped this would end up being a good idea and not a bad one.

She took a seat at the bar and gave the bartender a tired smile. "Can I have a mug of ale, please?"

"Sure, one mug of ale" the bartender replied and poured the ale in the mug it foamed nicely as she set it down.

"Thanks," Kara said, taking a long drink. "As long as it helps me relax so I can sleep..."

"Yeah, but the TR119 is the best weapon out there," Dave Parhtz said as he walked into the bar.

"The Marine carbine is superior in every way," Peter Pettigrew argued. They both nodded to Kara as they both sat at the bar.

"Hey, Staff Sergeant."

"Hello," Kara said in return.

"Sorry to say boys, but you're both wrong" Andre Hernandes said, walking up behind them. "Although the TR series has it's good points, sometime you can't beet a Type III Phaser Rifle, particularly in ZG combat"

"Yes, but how often are you going to fight in zerog?" Parhtz asked. "Most of the time it'll be shipboard on planet-based. You need a good rifle you can depend on, not some fleetie wannabe."

"Hay, you can depend on the type III, you just need to carry a few spare power cells" Andre said, defending his favoured rifle

Parhtz turned to the bartender. "Beer, cold."

Pettigrew looked at him with a raised eyebrow. "Yanks are strange." He turned to the bartender. "Beer, warm."

Andre shook his head, "you guys need to learn how to drink" he said, looking to the bartender, "one Mojito"

"Mojito? You're kidding, right?" Pettigrew said. "And you think that's superior to what? A Shirley Temple?"

Helga Lowe came in on the tail end of the conversation. "Boys, there are more important things to argue about than alcohol."

Robert over hearing them ague of weapons and now alcohol fished his drink. Standing he walked over to the bartender next to Andre. "Crown Royal on the rocks with a twist pleas". looking over so are you guys married ?

Helga rolled her eyes. If there was anything that would set off two Marines, that was it.

"Why? You interested?" Parhtz sneered.

Smiling " No your not my type thanks i was wondering because you two were arguing like two married couples " manning said. Robert picked up his drink started to head back to the table he was sitting at always keeping his eye on them just case they wanted to pick a fight everyone here was edge becuse of there lack of sleep it was funny to him. He was always having nightmare's he learned to get sleep.
sadly they have not learned to do the same

"Since when do married couples argue about guns?" Pettigrew scoffed.

"When they're both Marines," Kara added. She'd mostly avoided the argument because Marines often argued about weapons, but she couldn't resist throwing in a comment.

"She got a point" Manning said with a smirk on his face.

"Hay, easy there man" Andre said, putting her hands up slightly

Pettigrew turned to Andre. "What's your problem? Besides not being good enough for Alpha platoon?"

Bosley walked into the lounge. "Easy, boys." He grabbed a beer and went to an empty table.

"What, not good enough for the rest of us?" Parhtz sneered. Bosley was the new guy and so far Dave didn't like him.

"I didn't say anything," Bosley said.

"You didn't have to. Your presence speaks volumes," Peter added.

"Enough," Kara barked. "Finish your drinks and behave."

Andre walked past Pettigrew on his way to the bar, "Bravo could kick Alpha's ass" he half whispered as he passed

Sterling eased into the bar and could feel the tension immediately. He glanced around shaking his head and rolling his eyes. He didn't know exactly what was going on, but he could guess it had something to do with Alpha males and pissing contests.

He raised his voice and said, "Okay boys and girls, let's all chill out before something nasty happens. I'm buying the next round for everybody if you all stand down."

Kara relaxed. That was exactly what they needed, someone to buy them all drinks to break the tension.

Helga turned to Sterling. "Does that include the rest of us?" she asked.

"Don't mind him guy's he clearly has not been able to release some steam. So just ignore him when he want's to behave like a adult or better yet a good marine he will be nice again" . Robert said in a stern voice.
That should do it he thought to himself. Once in awhile a good o' bar fight is healthy now let see what happens.

"Yeah, that includes everyone, I'm just buying one round, but I'm buying for the room." He did his best to project peace and harmony, it worked one on one pretty well, if he were not careful it might work too well, with so many it probably wasn't too effective but the last thing that he wanted was to get in the middle of a fight.

The bartender started putting out drink orders as they came in.

"Then I thank you for your generosity," Helga said. "I'm Helga, by the way."

"Sterling," he replied,"Glad to meet you, I'd rather prevent a crime than investigate it. Way too much PAaD work otherwise."

"I'm a nurse," she said. "I see them when they come into sickbay, so I definitely agree with you."

"Yes and you probably get all sorts of pick up lines if I don't miss my guess. A woman as attractive as you probably get tired of getting hit on all the time."

Helga chuckled. "They're usually in pain or going under sedation so it doesn't count." She tossed her hair over her shoulder and smiled. "I don't come to the lounge very often, so I don't tend to meet people out of sickbay."

"Well I'm afraid I haven't dated much, so I'm fresh out of both witty and pathetic pick up lines. So what if I just ask you straight up if you'd like to have dinner sometime." He cleared his throat, a bit surprised that he had been so forward, he was almost never that way.

Helga found that a very sweet approach. She looked at Sterling with more interest. "I get a lot of lines. I like a straight approach. Yes, I would very much like to have dinner with you."

Pettigrew looked over at Helga. "Hey, what about me? I think you're the sexiest thing I've seen in a long while. Can I get a little TLC from you?"

Helga sighed. "Sorry. I've already got a date."

Pettigrew scoffed. "Yeah, but he's not a real man. He's not a Marine."
