Mission:
What Dreams May Come?
Location: Cam's Office
After Sam had left, Cam had dismissed the other marines but had asked Kara to remain behind so that he could talk to her about her actions during the meeting. He was wishing that he didn't have to do this, but Kara was out of line to call the Commanding Officer from his office, especially while he was sitting just across from her. Waiting a few moments after the doors had closed, Cam sighed, "tell me Sergeant, what were you thinking?" He asked, his back to her as he looked out on the parade grounds at the Marines laying out their gear.
Uh oh. Kara knew she'd done something wrong and Cam was not pleased. "For telling PFC Kushner he could come in? I wasn't sir. Sorry," she said.
"That's not what I'm referring to" Cam said, turning to face Kara, "I'm referring to when you called the Commanding Officer from my office, while I was sitting right there!" He barked, pointing over at his chair, "you were out of line Sergeant. If you ever do an end-run around me again, I'll snap you back so hard, you'll think your back in boot camp"
She almost argued with him, then she realized that she had contacted the Commander. She hadn't even thought about what she was doing. She stood at attention. "Sir, yes sir."
"Now, get out there and keep those Marines in line. I won't write up a report on this, consider it a warning"
"Yes, sir." Kara saluted, performed a perfect military turn and walked out of the room.
It wasn't until she was out of Cam's office that she slumped against the wall. "Way to go, Melo. You screwed up big time." She needed sleep. If this kept up she'd be out of the Marines and her relationship -- or what there was of it -- would be in shambles as well.
After Kara had left, Cam walked back over to his chair, sat down and put his head in his hands, "well done you idiot, you've just pissed off your new girlfriend. What kind of stupid are you" he said to himself, leaning back in his chair. "I guess this is why most couples arn't in the same command. I've got to make it up to her....but how?"
Kara walked over to the punching bag ad began to slowly and methodically hit it to let out her frustration at her totally boneheaded action.
Standing up, Cam walked back to the observation Window and saw Kara beating her frustrations out on a punching bag, "wow, she is angry"
Kara worked until she was exhausted. She held onto the bag and rested her head against it while she caught her breath. This wasn't working. She was running out of options. Maybe after a shower she could get some sleep, but she doubted it.
