508 words; about a 3 minute read

Mission: What Dreams May Come?
Location: Sterlng's Room
Timeline: Current

I get the picture Darcell," Sterling interrupted, "You don't have to go into detail. You really are in deep pigah aren't you? You're not in love with the one you're supposed to wed. You're trying to plot on how to break off the wedding, with a very willing co-conspirator I might add and to top it all off, you're in love with an off-worlder. A Bajoran."

Sterling stirred slightly in his sleep as the focus of his dream, a dream forged in the reality of the past

It was early morning and a cold penetrating fog hid the sun that had just come up in a shroud of gray. The Tilly Garden was one of the most beautiful in all of New Anish. and one of the most crowded. On a good day it might see up to 500 visitors, but there was no crowd. In fact, the entire area was deserted Which is exactly what the two young lovers were counting on.

It was the reason they had picked this time and this location, because they knew it would give them a chance to be alone. Sterling entered and looked all around him. He finally spoted Rachel near what looked like a Terran rose. She had never seen one before. Could not give a name to it, she just knew that she liked it.

Sterling came in just a few minuets after her. Still with the heavy mist it took him awhile to find her. When he did he came up behind her and warpped his arms around her. She looked back over her shoulder and when she recognized him she leaned back into the embrace.

There was someone else in the garden, that had not been there when the actual event had taken place. Sterling barely discerned him. In fact he wasn't sure he was actually there at first. But he was there. When Sterling turned once the fog faded for a few seconds he could clearly see the man waving his arms in some intriciate fashion then fog returned and the man dissappeared.

"Rachel, Darcell and I have talked until we were blue in the face and neither of us has been able to change our parents mind. They are being stubborn and they are only thinking of themselves and their fragging personal empire they're trying to build. .." He was close to tears and he was trying his best not to break down.

"We could elope, you know we've talked about it before," she said.

"You know that would mean leaving everything behind, we would both pretty much be disowned, we'd be poor as kumari."

"Are you saying I'm not worth it?"

"Not at all, you are more than worth it. I would become a commoner in heartbeat. I just want to make sure you know what we're getting into."

"I know and I am."

"There is a transport to Akadia that leaves in three days. It leaves at 6:30. I'll get us two tickets and meet you at 5:00.

"I'll be there my love." she replied.
