Mission: A Pirate's Life
Location: Holodeck 2

[OLD]

The guard turned quickly, gun pointing towards Cam. "Ho! Pirates!" he shouted, calling for reinforcements.

Cam shook his head, "bad choice" he said, quickly grabbing the guards gun and twisting it out of his hand. Throwing it into the cell, Cam drew his knife and held it to the guards throat, "step aside"

[NEW]

The guard wasn't about to give up his life protecting the prisoners. He quickly stepped aside.

Carefully walking around the guard, Cam made his way over to Kara, "are you alright?" He asked, kneeling down beside her

She turned to look at Cam, relieved to see him. "I think so. To be honest, I don't remember much after being caught. I think we were drugged." She glanced at the door, where the guard was sneaking away. "I think we need to get out of here."

"You're just full of good ideas aren't ya" Cam joked, as he cut Kara's bonds and moved over to Amarylis, "you done lounging around Sergeant?" He asked, cutting her loose, "I said take it easy but this is a bit much don't you think?"

"I was beginning to think you two were gonna forget me." Amarylis joked standing up and brushing herself off.

Kara took several moments to get the blood flowing back in her hands and feet before she tried to stand. On the second try she managed to get to her feet. She could hear the cry of "Pirates!" being from person to person in the town and turned to the others. "I think we should get out of here. Cam, I hope you have a backup plan."

Cam smiled, "come on, do you think I'd come in here without a plan?"

"No," she lied. It wasn't that she didn't trust his plan, she just suspected that he was improvising. She wanted to give him a hug of thanks, but they needed to move quickly and she wasn't sure how he'd react to such a gesture.

Kara hurried out the door and searched for anything the guards may have taken from her. She found one of her knives, but fortunately not the boot knife. She grabbed it and secured it in her dress. "Okay, lead on, MacDuff."

Giving a smile, Cam lead the two women out into the corridors of the facility. Unfortunately, he was making it up as he went and he was almost put of ideas. He'd managed to get into the facility by relying on his training, but that wouldn't work now that he had two others with him. come on think, no prison is perfect, there has to be a way out without fighting off the entire garrison he thought to himself.

Quickly running out of time, Cam sighed, "I guess we run for it. Come on" he said, as he started to move in the opposite direction to where the voices of the guards were coming from

It was as good an option as any. Kara hiked up her skirts and began to run. There was a wood not too far away. If they could get there in time, they might be able to elude the town folk.

She heard shouting from the direction of the jail as they reached the woods. She wished she had her pirate clothes. They were far easier to run in, but she had a sneaking suspicion they'd been discovered and were part of the reason she'd been captured. It couldn't have been anything she said. She'd been very careful to not give herself away in the pub.

They slowed to navigate through the thick underbrush as they continued to head deeper into the woods. Kara didn't know where she was going; she only knew they had to get far enough away to avoid capture.

When she thought they'd gone far enough, she climbed a large tree and found a comfortable branch in the foliage. "I think we'll be safe here," she whispered. "Cam, we need to warn the Black Pearl. A number of ships are going in search of her this morning. They might already be on their way."

"Agreed, unfortunately we're at least two hours away at a dead run and for all we know she's already left" Cam said

"I'm glad she's gone," Kara said, looking over at Cam. "But where does that leave us?"

"In need of a new boat." Amarylis chimed in.

"In need of a fast boat," Kara added, grinning.

Cam smiled, "in need of a good pint if you ask me"

Kara gave him a disgusted look. "That's what got us in trouble in the first place."

"I think these guards hating pirates had a little more something to do with it." Amarylis corrected Kara.

'Yes, but how did they know we were pirates? We don't look like pirates. We don't talk like pirates and we did nothing to make them believe we were pirates. Yet, here we are."

"This is old England honey. They used to burn people for witchcraft simply because their breasts were too big." Amarylis retorted.

Kara chuckled. "This is far from Old England. This is just before the Industrial Revolution. We're well past Salem, Massachusetts. Still, it won't be easy to get past them. And we have to get through town to see if the Captain left us a boat or something."

The sound of something moving through the underbrush caught their attention. It was followed by someone shushing the others.

"I think we have company," Kara mouthed. If they held still, there was a good chance they wouldn't get caught.

Taking deep slow breaths to slow his heart rate, Cam prepared himself to drop down onto whoever was coming. He'd just busted them out of Jail and wasn't about to let them end up back in there, "I'll drop first and create a distraction, you two drop and run as soon as you see an opening" Cam whispered, drawing his knife and flipping it back and forward.

Kara nodded. She waited for Cam to lead off, then, when she saw an opening, she jumped onto the back of one of the men in the back. There were six of them, which would be difficult, but not impossible.

The man dropped to the ground and rolled Kara off the top of him. He opened his mouth to raise the alarm...and froze.

Cam looked around at the frozen people, confused, "what's going on?"

Kara looked at the men, then around the woods. Nothing moved. Even a bird was stopped mid-flight. "I think the holodeck program froze." It was a great opportunity and impeccable timing. "I think now is a good time to get back to the cove and look for the Black Pearl."

Cam nodded, "agreed, Beckinsale take point, bearing 350"
