Mission:
A Pirate's Life
Location: Holodeck 2

Kara woke with a pounding headache. Her muscles ached from the questioning the night before and from her hands being tied behind her back all night. Slowly and carefully she began to assess her situation. Hands and feet tied. The itch of straw or something like it beneath her back. She opened one eye a crack. Not much light, but enough filtering in through the cracks to indicate day.
"Amarylis?" She didn't dare talk so opted for telepathy. "Are you okay?"
Amarylis groaned as she tried to raise herself from the floor. "Sergeant, I haven't had a hangover like this since the academy."
She soon realized her binds were preventing her from rising. She squirmed to try and loosen the binds noting they were quite secure. "I'm usually awake for this kind of party...."
Kara chuckled softly. "I don't even remember what hit me. That's a first." She remembered the sailors, the accusation, then a prick on her neck. "Drugged. And by the feel of it, roughed up, but I don't remember any questions."
"What ever happened to chivalry?" Amarylis asked slowly raising to her knees.
"Apparently it's not doing so well," Kara joked. "At least here. A guy chats you up in a bar, then he drugs you and throws you in jail." She groaned, "I wish I could remember what happened."
"I got nothing Sarge...except a splitting headache. I wonder if they got Lieutenant Bourne." she said looking around for their Commander.
"I saw him head back to the ship, I'm pretty sure he's safe," Kara said. At least, she remembered seeing him go back with the other Marines. She hoped he was safe...
"He will find us then...."
"Part of me wishes he would," Kara admitted. "But part of me wants him to stay away so he doesn't get caught, too."
"You really care for him, don't ya Sarge?" Amarylis said inching closer to Kara.
"Don't say anything to him about it." The last thing Kara wanted was for Cam to suspect she had feelings for him. Especially when she wasn't sure she could trust him to not lose control again.
She noticed what Amarylis was trying to do and began to wiggle closer, turning over so her back was facing the other Marine.
"Of course, your secret is safe with me, but why hide it? You don't strike me as the nervous type." Amarylis replied once she got close enough to Kara.
"I'm not. There are ... other things going on." She couldn't tell Amarylis that not only wasn't Cam interested in her, he lost control and almost killed her.
"Well Sarge, I've got alot of time and an open ear. Lay it on me." Amarylis smiled.
"Tell me about your friend and the Borg," Kara countered.
"I told you Sarge, she got assimilated and we got her back. She's safe on the Calypso now." Amarylis replied avoiding any details.
"Why do I get the feeling there's more? Something that happened before that," Kara said quietly. She continued to work at her hands, but they were too tight to get to her knife. Maybe, if it was still in her boot, Amarylis could reach it?
"She's had a rough go. Life hasn't been to kind to her." Amarylis said with a sigh leaning her head against the wall.
Kara nodded. "I've met a lot of people like that. Some get tough, some pull away and others just keep fighting."
Amarylis chuckled. "Oh she's a fighter, problem is she pushes everyone away. Won't let anyone get close, something about giving us the life she can't have."
"Gotta love the types who think they can do it all without help."
Amarylis sighed. "Intelligence does that to a person."
"So do the Marines." Kara added.
"Hey now, we didn't turn out so bad!" Amarylis replied jokingly.
"True." But she wasn't thinking of herself or Amarylis. Not something she wanted to talk about, though. "So, where are you from, Beckinsale?"
"Germany...but my mom was from the southern United States. My sister has more of the accent then me."
"That would be an interesting combination of accents," Kara said, grinning. "German and Southern States."
"Couldn't say. Guess mom's chromosome's won the battle." Amarylis replied trying once again to loosen her binds.
"If they didn't find it, I have a knife in my boot," Kara said, "Or if we could get back to back, we could try to untie each other."
"Hold on Sarge." Amarylis said inching her hands towards Kara's boot and feeling for the blade. She smiled as she soon felt the cold steel meet the tips of her fingers. "I got it Sarge." She removed the blade from Kara's boot and inched to her back. She began to rub the edge against Kara's restraints.
[Outside the facility]
Just outside the building where Kara and Amarylis were being held, Cam sat in a small grove of bushes, observing the flow of foot traffic around the area. He'd overheard a couple of Sailors talking about the two female pirates that had been captured and were being held for interrogation.
After he made his way to the facility, Cam set up camp outside in the hope of finding a quiet way in
[Inside]
The cell door opened and a plate with two chunks of bread and a flask of some liquid was dumped on the floor just inside the door. "Breakfast, if you can get to it," the guard said. He laughed at his joke as the two women were tied up on the far side of the room. "Behave yourselves, you go out with the evening tide."
"You have no idea how true that is" Cam said, walking up behind the guard, "but maybe not in the way your expecting. Now how about you just put that weapon of yours on the floor and we can get through this without unpleasantness"
The guard turned quickly, gun pointing towards Cam. "Ho! Pirates!" he shouted, calling for reinforcements.
Cam shook his head, "bad choice" he said, quickly grabbing the guards gun and twisting it out of his hand. Throwing it into the cell, Cam drew his knife and held it to the guards throat, "step aside"
