Mission: A Pirate's Life
Location: Holodeck

ON

The ceremonies over, it was time for a good, old-fashioned party. Wine bottles were passed around and soft Caribbean music played from speakers hidden around the ship.

Sam spent a good deal of time moving from group to group, keeping an eye on the festivities. With Damon back on Athena, she was happier playing hostess.

Cam was standing over to one side of the deck, staring at the small golden bar in his hand. He still couldn't believe he was now an officer. Two promotions in a matter of weeks, Cam's head was spinning.

Anthony heard the music and picked up the snakes first, spinning them off quickly before setting the zippo to them. As the kevlarbwick started to burn, his hands and arms went into a simple three beat as he lisyened to the tempo, and started to move with the music. Spinning his body he started a move called "Sun chasing the moon" as the flaming walls went around his legs and head in time woth the music. breaking from that into a butterfly, he watched the wings as he spun the flame in such a way it looked like the wings of a butterfly. Spinning quicker this time he matched the tempo and beat with a buzzsaw, the flames just centimeters from his face. His head was to the right and slightly back asbhis hands gripped close to the flame. Breaking the move he turned into a reverse three beat.

Kara came back from changing into her pirate costume and stopped to watch the fire dancer.

Shade started spinning his snakes faster than the beat as the flames started to lower. Spinning them faster next to him, he jerked them into a faster speed to extuinguish them. As he laid them down on the fire blanket he had laid down and tossed the excess over them to smother any embers he dug in his satchel. "Before I go any further, and start doing the dangerous stuff, Commodore York, Doc Bowen, Sergeant Melo, Colonel Raines, and Warrant- well the new Marine CO please come here," as he started shuffling thsm to put them in the order he had called out. The messages all read about the same except for some differences. Milo was td he kept bugging the Captain to make her a Gunny, he was wishing Cam the best with his new post and wished that he could have been there to pin the butter bar on his collar. Leo had sent in a request for the man to become an officer before going to the Rhombus. The one letter that was the longest was the one to York.

Sam, I'm sorry that you're getting this letter. I've been with you and the crew going on two years, and remember being a green horn on the Orion. There hasn't been much I couldn't confide in you, but this is something I was going to bring up to you when I came back from what ever mission took me away from the Calypso.

I called my parents when we got home, and they didn't know who I was. Evidently I was still in the Academy, to be a fighter pilot. Can you believe that? Me? A jockey? But any of my possessions that the crew want, they can have. I'm not going to burden a family that still has their son with the death of aomeone they never knew. There's only a couple things that I need you to hand out. My officers sword goes to Kara. Don't ask why, but I think she'll understand. Find the new me and let him know if I died how I know I would have wanted, fighting. If I didn't then I suggest you send my butt to the Genesis Planet and get me back. You get the old Marine Flag I had in my office. It was the one flown on the old Naval ship, Enterprise. There's a lit of history its seen and you'd appreciate that. Colonel Raines should get the battlefield of Iwo Jima I was building. My quarters, beside the bed. Its not done but then again neither was I.

Be well Commodore, and may gods love be with you.

Major Leroy Mangalia

Shade smiled as he handed over the padds to be handed to those that wanted them.

Sam took the PADDs for herself and Damon. She read through hers twice, brushing a tear from her cheek. She knew how he felt about family. Her family was dead, yet there was another Samantha York with family intact. She'd seen pictures, but never contacted them as they wouldn't care to meet their child's "twin." She wished they'd had a chance to talk about the Orion and what brought them here, and their shared loss of family.

"Thank you," she said to Shade, slipping the PADDs into her bag for later.

Kara stepped up and took her PADD, wondering what the Major wanted to say to her. "His sword?" She was both surprised and honored by the gesture. It meant a lot to her. She held the PADD close to her for a moment, then stepped back. "Thank you, Lieutenant," she said before slipping away to store the PADD with her dress blues.

Cam stood next to Sam, listening to the Majors message. After it had finished, he gave a lop sided smile, "gee, I feel a little short changed, all I got was his job"

"You can always give it back," Sam teased.

Cam pretended to think, "hm, tempting, but no"
