Kara's kick hit home, but it didn't have the desired effect. Instead in only made him angrier. Moving to stand over top of her, Cam started throwing punches, fracturing a bone in his hand with every miss.
[NEW]
Seeing this, a couple of Marines quickly ran over and pulled Cam off of Kara, pinning him against the wall of the Gym. Cam struggled against their grip, trying to get free
Kara couldn't move. Her leg was broken, both her arms got broken when she tried to protect her face, her nose and jaw were broken and several of her ribs. She wasn't sure of the rest of the damage. She was surprised she was even conscious at this point, but with the difficulty she was having taking a deep breath she didn't think that she would stay that way for long.
After a while, Cam eventually calmed down and was confronted by what he'd done. "Oh No, I...did it again" he said, collapsing to his knees as the Marines released him. Reaching down, Cam carefully picked Kara up, walked out of the Gym and headed straight for the closest turbolift.
"Sickbay" He said as the doors to the lift closed. Looking down at Kara, Cam couldn't believe what he'd done, "Kara, I am so sorry" he whispered, fighting back tears.
She was only half-conscious and not quite sure she heard him correctly. She was still trying to make sense of what happened -- or just make sense at all as she hurt too much.
Noticing that Kara hadn't responded, Cam was about to give her a gentle shake when the turbolift doors opened. Walking as fast as he could without shaking Kara too much, Cam hurried to sickbay, "Medic! I need a medic!!" He yelled as he walked over to the closest empty biobed and gently put Kara down
A medic came running over to Kara, quickly activating the biobed to start scanning her. "What happened?"
"Training accident" Cam said, downplaying what had happened, "we got a bit too, excited, while training in the gym. I'm afraid Sergeant Melo got quite a beating" he continued, pulling over a chair and sitting down beside Kara, wincing at the pain in his ribs
The medic looked sharply at Cam. "Looks like someone worked her over good. What'd she do to tick him off so much?" He turned back to Kara and pulled out a osteoregenerator to start repairing her broken bones.
Cam smiled, "oh you know, all marines have aggressive attitudes. Sometimes some friendly ribbing goes a bit too far" he said, slowly sitting down, being careful not to twist too much
"This is way beyond friendly ribbing. I've been on this ship for a year now. Seen my share of friendly sparring. This looks more like a mugging than a friendly round in the gym." He continued to work, mending the clean breaks first. Her leg would take surgery, but the rest should mend well enough, barring internal injuries. "Who was she fighting?" he asked.
Cam gave a regretful sigh before answering, "that, would be me. I was her sparing partner"
The medic turned and looked at Cam, surprised. He wanted to ask what would make him try to kill the other Marine, but he wasn't sure he wanted to know. Instead, he turned back to keep working on Kara. "If someone else had brought her in like this, I would have the incident reported to the Marine CO and have the bloke thrown in the brig." He put away the osteoregenerator and began to work with a dermal regenerator. "If nothing else, I think you should talk to the counselor. You've obviously got some anger issues you need to deal with."
Cam nodded, "you've got a talent for understatement. I'll wait until the sergeant is awake, than I shall report what happened to the CO. feel free to send a report of your own to the XO."
"I file a report of all unusual activities. Up to the CMO what she does with them." He was being nonchalant about the whole thing, figuring if the guy brought the injured party to sickbay he obviously knew he messed up. The medic looked down at his patient. He'd hate to meet this guy in a dark alley.
A thought occurred to him and he turned to Cam. "What about you? Have any injuries I need to treat?"
Cam half smiled than held up his twisted and bloody hands, "also I think I have a few cracked and broken ribs and internal bleeding" he said, reaching down and carefully lifting his shirt to reveal a large purple patch covering his left rib cage
The medic sighed and muttered something about Marines under his breath. He turned on another biobed and pointed to it. "Lie down there."
He turned back to Kara and finished repairing her face and arms. He made a note for the doctor to come in and fix her leg and then turned to Cam. "Your turn."
Limping over to the biobed, Cam shook his head, "not until she's taken care of. My injuries can wait"
"Her leg needs surgery. Hop on the biobed and let me do the preliminary scans, mate. It won't make her get better faster if you don't."
He pushed a button and a doctor came in. "I'll take it from here," he said, shifting Kara from the biobed to a floating table and then exiting the room.
The medic turned back to Cam. "Now will you get on the biobed?"
Watching the medical staff take Kara away, Cam reluctantly nodded than hoped up onto the biobed, "do what you can doc" he said, laying down on the bed and closing his eyes
