Mission:
A Pirate's Life
Location: Holodeck
ON
The crew had been through a lot of late, first with the Orion mining camp and then the Borg. They needed to have some fun and let off a little steam. Sam wanted to do something a little different to pay homage to Leo Mangalia and to promote Cameron Bourne. Something that would be both fun and fitting.
After several discussions with Damon and a search through the database of holodeck programs, she decided that it might be fun to give Leo and the other Marines who'd lost their lives on the last mission an old-fashioned burial at sea -- with a twist. She looked through one of her favorite programs Kate the Cursed and decided to use the pirate ship for the location. Leo always enjoyed a good adventure, if he were still here he'd enjoy the irony of a burial at sea aboard a pirate ship.
At the same time, she would announce Cam's promotion and the crew could have both a wake and a celebration salining the Black Pearl for a while.
Having made up her mind, she sent out invitations to the senior staff and the Marines who'd worked closely with both Leo and Cam.
Sam dressed in her black pants, white poet's shirt and black leather vest, grabbed her bandanna and headed for the holodeck to greet her "crew."
Cam was standing in his quarters, putting on a set of 20th century USMC Dress Blues. He was feeling more than a little apprehensive about what was going to happen today. First off, he was going to lead the Marines in laying their previous MCO to rest, than right after that, his promotion was being made official just before the crew conducts a wake for the Major.
"This is gonna be a long day" Cam said to himself, buckling up his sword belt around his waist, shoving his cover under his right arm and standing to attention in front of the mirror. After looking himself over, he nodded and walked out of his quarters and headed for the holodeck
Mandy was more than a little pleased with her costume. Disliking the thought of wearing a dress on a ship, even a holodeck one, she had made herself a traditional pirate costume. The jacket was replicated leather, and the undershirt was plain, just a little off white. She had sewn shiny silver buttons on, not trusting the replicator's sewing skills, and had made herself a tricorn hat, with a large red feather plume. The pants were simple, just plain brown, but the black, calf high, leather boots were quite to her liking. She straped on her sword, and put the pair of knives in her boots, figuring that a pirate never would have left her quarters without them. With that she left, heading to the holodeck, practicing her pirate walk the entire way.
Shade had dressed like a gunners mate and grabbed a satchel full of his performance equipment. He'd put the good MCO to rest in the best way possible. Replicating extra fuel he grabbed it and headed towards the holodeck. "Normally I'd say mornin," he said with a smile to Sam. "But this time I need to set up a thirty foot space to perform in. Anywhere at all you wouldn't mind?" he asked setting down the cans of fuel and unslinging the staff he had had across his back.
Sam nodded with her head. "Over there. You'll start off the wake after the burial at sea."
Walking onto the holodeck, Cam looked at the costumes the others were wearing than looked down at his dress blues. Giving a sigh, Jacen closed his eyes, "A very long day" he said to himself before putting on his cover and walking over to Sam, "I'm going to look out of place aren't I?"
"No. I think you're attire is perfect for saying goodbye to Leo and the others. If you wish to change after that, you're welcome. But for now, don't worry about it."
Malcolm walked into the holodeck wearing the pirate attire he had researched. He wasn't to sure how this was going to work but he would try to have fun with it, plus it meant he had less counseling sessions to do.
Kara showed up shortly after. She was dressed in her Dress Blues, a rucksack over one shoulder with a pirate costume for later. She wasn't sure quite how to dress, so she chose the more formal attire for a funeral. She hoped she wasn't the only one. Then she spotted Cam and smiled. "Hi. Nice outfit."
Cam returned Kara's smile, "you look good Melo, I'm sure the Major would have thought so as well"
Kara raised an eyebrow. "Thank you, but I think the Major would only have commented if I'd come in my pirate costume -- and then to make me drop and give him 50." She grinned, not really sure how the Major would have reacted if she'd shown up dressed like a pirate.
"If it'll make you feel better, I could run your through some drills" Cam said with a shrug.
"Not a chance. I'm here to pay respects to my fallen comrades. Then I plan on having fun. So I will respectfully tell you where you can shove it. Sir."
Cam smiled, "alright, it's your loss. Can I ask you a favor?"
"What's the favor?" she asked.
"I've been trying to write a letter to the Major's family and I haven't been able to get beyond 'I regret to inform you'. You knew him longer than I did, would you mind giving me a hand after the party?"
"Sure. Anything I can do to help, just ask," she said, her smile warm.
Cam smiled, "thanks, I'll keep that in mind" he said, putting a hand on her shoulder
