| Personal History | Malcolm was born on September 4th 2355 to his parents Victor and Margaret on Trill. His father was the Executive officer of the starfleet outpost on Trill and his mother was a house wife on. He was raised on Trill with his parents until 2359 then his father was transferred to the USS Yorktown, his mother followed and took Malcolm along. They were on board the ship for 5 years until his father got injured on an away mission and was forced to medically retire, the Hoffman family then moved back to trill and raised their son, now age 4. The time he spent on the ship was fascinating for him and Malcom decided at a young age he would want to be in starfleet but wasn't sure as to what he wanted to do, his decision came much later in his life when he was 12 and his mother died suddenly from a sickness no one knew she had. His dad stooped into a deep depression and nothing seemed to get him out of it until one day Malcolm, now 14, decided enough was enough and tried talking to his dad about things. He learned a lot about his father and how his concern alone was enough to snap his dad out of it, that moment he then decided he would pursue counseling. He told his father a few weeks later of his desire to join starfleet and his father supported him fully helping him any step of the way he could. When he became of age he went to the academy and studied counseling, for what seemed like an eternity Malcolm went through his classes with as much success as he could muster finally graduating top 30% in his class. He was assigned to Starbase 241 as a regular counselor . He loved his job working with everyday people helping them through their problems and finding solutions to them. One day he decided he would try to get joined with a simbiate and applied to the Simbiosis commission. It took a while but finally he was deemed an initiate and began his training. He almost got rejected but was able to smooth talk his mentor into not kicking him from the program especially after all the hard work he had put into it. The commission accepted his appeal and proceeded to give him a simbiote. The simbiote was named Trans. Malcolm liked the name Trans but didn't want to give up his last name so he kept both but formally went by his simbiotes name. His simbiote came with a terrible anger issue from the previous host and it was very hard for Malcolm to control it, he would have random bursts of anger at times and even be rude to patients this landed him in trouble a few times but the offenses weren't to serious so they let them slide. Eventually he got it managed to a point but not before irreparable damage had been done to his personality, he was a totally different man. Malcolm stayed on the starbase for several years during the war where his role was needed more than ever, his excellence in his field made him rise in the ranks quickly until he finally reaches assistant chief counselor. He enjoyed his position but eventually grew tired of being under someone else and decided to apply for a new position on a starship so he could see the galaxy and maybe even get his own office as a chief somewhere. He heard the USS Calypso needed a counselor and applied right away. He currently serves there now. | |
