Ronnie got up slowly and looked at Damion. His eyes were cold and hard, much like Johnny's had been. It scared her. "Damion? Damion!"
[NEW]
Damion's eyes became deadlocked on his former ally and now enemy. His breathing was fast and shallow as he tucked his disruptor in his belt to take a hold of the guards phaser rifle with both hands. The ringing in his ears downed out any form of background noise as he brought the rifle up and looked down the sights at Hur'Rak. He kept his hand steadys and the rifle straight as he kept both eyes opened to allow for more accuracy. Damion was now hell bent on shooting Hur'Rak dead. It was in the middle of a fight and it could easily be considered a casualty of war, but Damion knew what it really was. It was an assassination. For someone who was trained to do this type of things, but was never ordered to do so, he felt like there was no other person he felt deserved it more. He slowly started to calm his breath and let the noise around him fade into silence. All distractions seemed to fade into the black until it was just Damion, Hur'Rak, and the rile. Not even the streams of weapons fire going passed his head seemed to distract him from his current goal. To kill Hur'Rak.
Ronnie pulled at him to get his attention. "Damion!" He was oblivious to her. Was Damion gone again? She looked to see what took his focus. In the green glow of the emergency lighting she was Hur'Rak. Part of her wanted to see him dead, but not if it cost her Damion. She called his name and tried to call to him mentally, although she was't a telepath.
As loud as Ronnie got, Damion was too focused to hear or even care. He let out a soft and long breath as he brought his finger to the trigger and prepared for his moment. He saw Hur'Rak's ugly face and aimed for nothing else but that. He knew he could get him in between the eyes from this distance and was prepared to do so. He held in a breath was ready to release it along with the last thing he was ever going to see. Damion narrowed his eyes and slowly released the breath as the ringing started to faded at the same time. He slowly started to hear the soft voice calling his name in the background. It was so faint that at first he thought it was his conscience, which concerned him because it seemed very feminine. His surroundings began to fade back into view as the sounds started to come back to him. It was then he recognized the voice he was hearing as not his conscience, but that of Ronnie calling his name.
She was oblivious to the tears running down her face. She had to stop Damion. SHe had to keep him from doing something he'd regret, something that might bring back Johnny. "Please, Damion. You have to stop."
Damion took his finger away from the trigger and looked down toward Ronnie. He stared at her for a while, slowly realizing what he was about to do. Suddenly he was hit by a sharp pain in his shoulder. The noise around him became silent for a split second as the pain hit him again, this time it was harder as he fell back with a painful growl. The noise of the weapons fire flooded back into his ears as the silence went away and Damion hit the ground holding his shoulder.
Ronnie jumped to his side and checked the wound. It was superficial, thank goodness. "Come on, love," she whispered, helping him to his feet. She wanted to get him out of here so she could treat his wound.
He got up onto a knee, fighting through the pain of his wound. Damion pushed his angry set mind as he lifted the phaser rifle with one hand, but by the time he lifted it up he was too late. He lost track of Hur'Rak in the crowd of guards. He looked over to Ronnie and then cringed from the pain in his shoulder. Looking back into Ronnie's eyes threw him back into his more important goal. He needed to get these people out. He needed to for Sam and now for himself.
Ronnie smiled, relieved to see Damion look like himself again. She wiped the tears and squeezed his hand. "Now, let's get everyone out of here."
"That's the best idea I've heard all day." Doc replied as he move along as best he could, with the weakness and the pain.
