Mission: Subjugation
ON
It started in Sector 2. A prisoner hit a guard for taking away his lunch. The prisoner was summarily shot by the guards, which caused the other prisoners in the compound to attack and kill the guards.
Before the alarm could bring more soldiers, there was a full-blown riot. As tension had been high in sectors 1 and 3 as well, they soon joined in. There weren't enough guards in the entire mining facility toe deal wqith the situation.
Three hours into the riot, the entire facility was in turmoil. Sam used the opportunity to make her move. Now, with the guards busy in sectors 1-3, she could make her move on the tower. The only entrance to the mines from the outside world.
"Get everybody together now," she told her inner circle. "We need to move soon."
While they organized the others, she grabbed three other telepaths and went into her tent. There was still one thing she had to do before she would leave. She had to contact the rest of her people.
The four telepaths stood in a circle, holding hands. Combining their telepathic abilities was dangerous. If something went wrong, they could do permanent damage. Their combined strength would definitely alert the guards in the tower to their exact location. There was no way they'd miss the wave of telepathic energy sweeping the lower levels. But it was the only way Sam could find Damon and the others.
For long moments she felt the force wash over the minds in the mine. Rage. Hatred. Despair. They had to fight to keep the emotional backlash from breaking their concentration. Finally, they'd reached every corner of the mine, both upper and lower levels.
Then Sam found him. Sector 15, the most remote sector of the mines. A grin spread across her face. I'm coming.
"Wait for the signal. Then come to the lower mines."
There were no words, but the impression was clear. And it was definitely Damon. She'd never been to the lower mines. She'd heard rumors about them, but the entrance was somewhere in Sector 1 or 2.
She had to get into the riot area in order to acces the lower mines. Sam doubted she'd be able to get there fast enough once the signal --whatever it was -- was sent. So, she determined to get there now and wait for the signal.
Adam sought out Damion. "Get Ronnie and the others to the guard tower. When you get the signal, break out. I'll meet you there."
Damion nodded, but closely looked at her. He knew something was off and he didn't like it. She was hiding something and after what had just happened to him, secrets isn't something he wasn't up to going through for a while. "Doesn't take a telepath to know your thinking something and its not the way a Starfleet Captain should be thinking, Ma'am."
"I'm not a Starfleet Captain in here." she whispered. Even though they were separated from the others, she didn't want anyone overhearing her. "I know where Damon is. I have to go help him." She looked at Damion intently. "I need you to get Ronnie and the others to safety."
"If your not a Starfleet Captain, then you can't reprimand me for saying: Have you lost your Betazoid Brain Cells?" Damion raised his voice slightly and then pulled them both into a tent. "Your our crews commanding officer and you being allowed to go back, on your own, and putting yourself in danger? As your friend, I am asking you to let me do this stupid thing your about to do, so you don't have to be in danger and at risk of losing, I don't know, your life?"
"I'm the only one who has a chance of finding him. Once I'm in the lower mines, I'll be able to sense where he is. I'm not going to risk anyone else's life." She looked at him intently, letting him feel how unyielding she was on this subject. "Besides, would you let someone else go if it were Ronnie in there?" Sam asked quietly.
"Let's not change the subject to me and Ronnie, Samantha. Don't feed me that Targ crap. You and I both know why your doing this. Your not the only telepath who would be able to sense him, the only difference is your connection is stronger because of your feelings, which is exactly what is driving you to make this decision." Damion responded, sounding slightly angry at her. "I don't need to remind you that you have an obligation to your crew. Whether you want to be a Captain on this hunk of rock or not, your still one. You can throw it away all you want, but deep down inside you know I am right. This crew, your family, has an obligation to ensure each others safety and especially yours."
He took a step forward, looking into her eyes with his own stern gaze. "You would also know that between the two of us, I have more experience in getting out of these kinds of situations. I don't need to remind you how many officers and agents I have brought back in one piece, so its not about experience." He brought his hand up and placed it on her shoulder. "Its because your either bringing him back alive or staying with him to die. You know damn well your not convincing me otherwise." Damion did his best to sound calm, but he was too angry at her for doing it and it just came out furious. He couldn't blame her, and deep down inside, he knew he was going to let her leave anyway. If the situations were reversed he would probably be having the same argument with her.
"I've survived in this purgatory for five weeks and I've managed to make it to sector boss. I don't need to remind you what that takes," she said coolly. She paused, deciding to be completely honest with him. "Yes. One way or another, I'm not leaving Damon." Her gaze was direct and unflinching. "That's why you have to get the others out of here."
