1,396 words; about a 7 minute read

Mission: Subjugation
Location: In the Mines
Timeline: Day 30

[CONTINUED]

[OLD]

Damion narrowed his eyes as he looked at the others around them. He saw it coming, he practically felt the trigger being pulled as he looked around. This was bound to be messy, there was no way to avoid it. One of the men York brought got a little trigger happy and fired without orders. A stream of seemed to flow passed the side of Damions face. He instinctive reaction was to leaned more to the left and hold on one disruptor in that direction. He wasn't going to killed anyone. He just needed to keep from being killed.

[NEW]

Sam turned quickly and shot the gunman, knocking him to the ground.

Another energy stream flew down as he caught his footing and tried to turn around. He saw all this happening in his head as he looked around the first time. He wanted to avoid a fire fight because Damion knew someone was going to get hit and Hur'Rak's crew wasn't a concern for him, but he didn't know why. He took a few large steps and threw himself at Ronnie and Hur'Rak. "Watch it!" He screamed as he collided with them and pushed Ronnie and Hur'Rak in separate directions.

He took a shot to the shoulder as he flew downward and collided with the floor. One of the men took the opportunity to take the shot when they had the chance. He couldn't blame them, he would have done the same thing. Ronnie would have been pushed safely into the side of the tent as Hur'Rak would land on the ground. Damion's shoulder was in pain as he laid there in the dirt. He let out a slight growl as he stumbled to his feet and jumped behind a rock for cover.

Ronnie saw that Damion dropped one of his disruptors and dove for it. She quickly shot one of Hur'Rak's men.

Damion leaned against the rock, hearing the sounds of the weapons fire and screaming. He closed his eyes and then popped his head out extending his disruptor outward. He had it aimed at Ronnie. For a brief couple of seconds their eyes met and he felt something comforting in them. He quickly turned his disruptor away and fired at one of the men firing at them. He quickly then ducked back behind the rock.

Sam slowly made her way to Hur'Rak, shooting people as necessary but taking care to use the stun setting. When she got to him, she stood to the side and called loudly, "Put your weapons down or I'll shoot him."

He looked quickly over the rock and saw Sam approaching Hur'Rak. He knew the Klingon would reach for hidden weapon and that would put Sam and the cause more bloodshed. Without thinking, Damion ran out from behind the rock and toward the two.

Damion kicked the sonic disruptor out of her hands and held his Klingon disruptor out and toward Sam. He let out a slight growl, but there was no anger behind it. He was faking his reaction towards her. Hur'Rak had his hand on his weapon and slowly took his hands away. Damion was now in between them and he had no visible shot. "Stop right there!" He yelled at her out loud. "Stop this bloodshed and I will see to it you all leave here without further injuries." He spoke to her telepathically. "Please don't extend this further, York." He had to resist the urge to call her Captain, even though it seemed so fluent he didn't know why.

"It's not your word I need," Sam said softly to Damion. "It's Hur'Rak. And I don't trust him to keep it, so that leaves us at an impasse. I'm not leaving here without Ronnie and I'm not going to let him consider this a win. The best I'll allow is a draw and we all go home."

"You have mine and my assurance that I wont let him." Damion growled back, keeping his disruptor training on York. He sounded angry, but she was able to sense that it was all just an act. He had no intention of letting them be harmed. "Take your friend and call this a draw."

"A draw??" Hur'Rak yelled as he reached for his gun.

"You heard me! Unless you want to deal with me." Damion yelled back, she could feel the anger now. It was practically pulsing off of him at this point. There was something else she felt. The darkness creeping to the surface. In this condition he wasn't taking his medication and if he wasn't taking it then he would only be pushed further and further away.

"And me," Sam said, dividing Hur'Rak's attention. Even though she could feel Damion's darkness and his confusion, he was still one of her crew and she wasn't going to lose him. "I don't think you want to risk losing your position today, do you?"

"Hur'Rak? Concede to a draw." Damion asked as he kept his aim on York.

"I will not!" Hur'Rak screamed as he put his hand on his weapon again.

Damion could feel his intention. He knew what Hur'Rak was thinking. Hur'Rak was going to draw his weapon and while she was distracted, he was going to shoot her. Damion wasn't going to allow it. "Keep in mind, with me, you would have never taken this sector! So I will be more then happen to stay out of it if you don't agree to a draw. And if you pulled your weapon out, I will let them kill you. This way you both live to fight another day."

Hur'Rak growled and then slowly thought about it. He was right, however. If Damion, or Johnny, had never gotten recruited into his group he would have never been able to get this sector. "Stand down your weapons, Boy! Let them walk away. For now."

Sam took the opportunity to retrieve her sonic disruptor. She looked at the others, who had stopped fighting to watch the drama unfold between Johnny, Hur'Rak and Sam. "Your word as a sector boss. Today ends as a draw. There will be no more violence today."

"Give it to her." Damion said as he kept his eyes focused on York.

"Your won't hear the-" Hur'Rak replied, but suddenly was cut off.

"Say the damn words!" Damion yelled as he turned and aimed the disruptor to Hur'Rak. The others in Hur'Rak's group drew their weapons and aimed it at Damion.

Hur'Rak raised his hand so the group would lower their weapons. "My word as a sector boss." He kept his eyes deadlocked on Damion and then took a step forward, putting the disruptor against his own chest. "You aim that thing at me you better plan on using it, Johnny."

Damion looked at him and then slowly lowered the disruptor. He kept a cold and emotionless stair at Hur'Rak as he spoke to Sam. "You have your word. Now go!"

Sam signaled to the others and waited for them to preced her. Ronnie was the last to go, lingering at the door to look one more time at Damion, disruptor still in hand.

"If I hear that you took this out on Johnny, I"ll come after you, and this time, I'll win," she said to Hur'Rak, her voice cool.

As she turned to follow Ronnie she added telepathically to Damion, You know where I am if you need anything.

Damion stopped as the others in Hur'Rak's group walked away. He heard Ronnie in his mind and then thought a moment. He wanted to unravel the mystery with all this, but he wasn't sure how to respond to her. He just reached back and pulled the hood back over his head. Just then it was like his mind was clouded in shadow. Like he put up a mental block to hide what he was thinking and feeling from anyone close enough or who could actually pick it up. Damion turned his head and locked eyes with Ronnie and just gave her a nod. He then looked back and continue to walk away.
