Mission: Subjugation
Location: Von Braun

[CONTINUED]

[OLD]

Staff Sergeant Riley swore as the tool in his hands slipped away and clanked loudly to the hard metal grating that his body was laid out over in the jefferies tube. HIs hands, almost a pale shade of blue, were freezing and could barely move let alone operate a very technical tool. For what seemed the hundredth time that day he brought them to his mouth and breathed before quickly rubbing them together in hopes of warming them up if even slightly.

[NEW]

Alan was fortunate, at least this jefferies tube branched off main engineering where there was some heat; almost everywhere else on the ship didn't have even so much as that. With such little power available to use, the remaining members of the starship had opted for only small pockets of livable space with both breathable air and heat. The other option was for life support to be active over all decks but not having enough power to operate the environmental controls. As Alan was finding now, having heat in small areas was by far the right choice. Unfortunately that meant most of the ship was inaccessible unless you had on a life support suit.

With a sigh, causing a plume of frozen vapour to escape his lips, the Sergeant picked the tool off the ground and went back to work. HIs cold hands dug into the panel in front of him as he visually searched for the correct power lines. Finding one such line he began stripping the cord as he had done dozens of time before that day although this time the line sparked; shocking Alen's hand and sent him reeling back in as much surprise as pain. After a moment to make sure all of his fingers still were attached to his hand he swore repeatedly and began punching the bulkhead beside the panel.

"I.." He punched "AM..." Again. "NOT..." Again "AN..." Again "ENGINEER!" He screamed out in frustration. He picked himself off the grating and angrily crawled to the opening of the jefferies tube. "DAMNIT! I thought you guys said this area was free of power?" He yelled as his head poked out of the opening.

Leo turned the corner after hearing the blows, and looked up. "Alen, it is free of power aint it?" Looking up he swore. "Sergeant get down here, your half frozen. Get in here and warm up already."

Alan didn't need another invitation. He turned himself about and clumsily climbed down the later until his feet touched the ground. Almost immediately his body began shaking as the warm air seemed to wash over reminding him of just how cold he really was.

"Marek, half of those power lines still carry a current." He said through chattering teeth, "We need to find a better way to cut off power in those sections if we ever have a chance at effecting real repairs."

"Of course we do, if you have any suggestions by all means." Marek gestured at the man who spoke with him. "We need resources and tools."

"Nope, no suggestions. I don't even know what I'm doing most of the time." Allen shook his head. He allowed a chill to race up his spine before speaking again. "All I know is that there is still a lot of power trapped in some these systems still. If we can find a way to localize it and then route it back here we might have a bit more juice to play with."

"How is the power trapped there? And where?" Marek asked.

"Over the past three days i've seen at least four separate systems with minimal power tracing through it. There should't be that power at all since it is no where near the lines used to keep the arboretum up." He pointed up at the jefferies tube. "Those lines are headed to one of the cargo bays and trust me there is enough power to turn on a few lights." The marine shook his head. "How? The hell if I know how. It's like the computer is still trying to power everything...but since the computer is offline..."

::: Arboretum :::

Patrick wanted to scream, that nutcase... The water falling from the sprinklers, the overflowing pots, If these plants died... Not to mention it was the only safe place on the ship to sleep with the sensor-blocking Ivy from the last planet they had been on cross planted all over the place. He went to the control panel for the sprinklers and shut it down, then put a lock out on the panel so that it couldn't just be turned on whenever she wanted. He found a spot under a trestle table that was mostly dry and laid down, even with the hard floor and lack of pillow, he had been running his body down with triple shifts and longer, with little sleep for nearly a month now, he slept like unto death.

Maddison noted that it had stopped raining, and she was momentarily upset, until she realized that most of the plants were severely water-logged. Shrugging, she laid down in the pond, and closed her eyes.

Lizzie watched the actions of the other two and sighed. Neither one of them bothered to ask HER what she wanted.

So, while Patrick and Maddison slept, Lizzie set about refocusing the water into a tropical rain forest she'd carefully set up in a corner just for Maddison. It would keep the mermaid happy and save her arboretum from drowning.

:::Warp Nacelles:::

Jourdan was fed up of looking at the same wall. She had been trapped in the warp nacelles for what seemed like ages. Luckily one of the replicators in the nacelle control room she had managed to get working off an external battery she found. However she couldn't get through to anyone on the comm system.
She had been trying to free herself continously but since the ship was so badly damaged it had been hard. However after days of digging through junk and partly destroyed crawlways she had finally reached the jeffries tube exit.
"If only the Chief Engineer of this Nova Class pile of junk wanted to show off his warp coils, I might not be in this mess!" she cursed as she started to cut through the door. Her tricorder was nearly dead, however it did tell her that the corridor behind has breathable air.
