Desiana let out a sigh as her fingers gently applied pressure to her temples. The new environment was reeking havoc on her brain and her head was killing her. She let out a groan as the turbolift doors parted revealing the medical bay. She straightened her posture before stepping off the lift and began her search for a fellow officer in teal.

The surgeon was running the shift as a back-up doctor for Dr. Hart, who is out with an injury. Wesley didn't mind taking Hart's position and having all his surgical schedules to be put on hold, unless it is an emergency. For now, he is in a medical uniform with a lab coat over it.

Things were starting to slow down, which allowed him time to re-check vitals on stable patients and do some that were scheduled to see a doctor. Wesley glanced over to see a woman approaching him, whom he has never seen before. "Can I help you, ma'am?"

Desiana tried to place her usual smile on her lips but today she just wasn't feeling. "I sure hope you, I seem to be having a bit of a headache." She stated simply.

He noted her hand to her forehead. Wesley gently took her elbow, "let's get you on a biobed," he said as he guided her. As soon as she was settled, he opened the instrument that he already had in his hand for other patients, and scanned her head. "When did this started?"

"Last night" Desiana replied as she adjusted her position. "Ok maybe noon yesterday. It wasn't bad as first. I am not sure if it is getting worse or I am just not able to tolerate it anymore." She smiled.

Wesley nodded and returned the smile. "So, what is your name?" He asked as he glanced at his instrument a few times, waiting for it to complete the scans.

"Lieutenant Desiana Torel at your service." She replied with jest. She closed her eyes for a second resting her head against the back of the bio bed. It was nice to just take a moment.

"In case you don't know my name, I'm Wesley Valdez...surgeon." The tricorder beeped and he read the display. He noted that she is a betazoid. Been using your telepathic abilities? he thought, wondering if she is reading him.

Desiana lips turned into a meek smile as she nodded in response. "It is a habit when I come to a new ship. " When around other non-telepaths Desiana had found that it was more about what people chose not to say then what they actually said.

"Looks like your headaches is the cause of using your telepathic ability...using it frequently." He picked up a hypospray, "I'll be right back." He left to the other side of the room and opened a cabnet. He pulled out a vial of medication, placing it into the instrument, and he returned to her. "Okay, I am going to give you some medication that will lower the hormone that is causing your headaches. It will last for about a day or two. You may notice that it will lower your chance of reading other people's minds." He touched her neck with the instrument.

"I guess I can live with that." Desiana said with a smile as her headache began to fade from the hypospray. "I promise to do my best to keep out of other people's minds."

"Unless you are having trouble controlling it. Have you?" He asked as he put the instrument away.

Desiana shook her head. "I have plenty of training for control. It is using it too much without proper rest." It was something that had happened to her in the past, nothing she couldn't handle.

"Okay. If for some reason that you have problems in the future, I can refer you to see a counselor. For now, the medication will put it to rest for awhile." Wesley picked up the PADD to sign off her medical information and handed it to a nurse to file it. "Any questions or concerns?"

"No, I think I am good." Desiana said with a smile. She pushed herself of the edge of the bio bed and onto her feet. With a nod to the Doctor she left sickbay. Thankful that the headache was gone.

He smiled and watched her leave sickbay, hoping that she gets better with the medication. Wesley turned and went back to work with another patient.
