"Verify that in her computer banks, Stran." She whispered quietly. She then spoke up. "If you were surveying the planet, ma'am, why then, did we not detect you, prior to entering orbit to this planet, at which point, I'll counter, your vessel was chased into this sector."
"I don't remember," Morgana said.
Damion sighed at Cassandra's line of questions. He wasn't sure pressing her was the best way to handle it, but his last interrogation didn't exactly go well either. "Her shuttle could be set for long range sensors. Maybe she began her survey before she planned on warping into the system. I am sure the vessel caught her off guard while she was in warp and had no choice but to warp out in the system." He looked over to Morgana and then shrugged, trying to play off that he was on her side while feeling out her responses and emotions to the hard questioning. "How do you know they were pirates? Have you encountered that type of ship before?"
"I don't remember. I have no idea why I'm here. All I remember is I'd been scanning the planet and I was attacked." The computer would verify that as she had imported data and done a thorough scan of the planet earlier. "When you find out, please let me know.' She looked at Damion. "I honestly don't know if I left the sector and got attacked or if I was attacked leaving."
A voice, softly whispered in Cassandra's ear. She didn't move a single facial muscle. "I'm satisfied." She said, looking to Damion. "Though she's not to go anywhere on the ship, unescorted, without the Captain's say so. We're doing this by the books."
Morgana wasn't convinced. Why did the security officer suddenly change her mind?
The Marine finally moved and knelt down next to Levue. "I'm not Lieutenant. There's something that strikes me as off. I've spent a lot of time, both as a Marine, and as Security reading people. Before coming to the light side of the combat force I made a living reading scum buckets like this." Lifting the welding glasses she could see his Crystal Blues. He was also tempting Morgana with the unsecured weapon on his back, something every Marine knows better than to do.
Morgana had to look away and focus on the wall to keep from rolling her eyes. A child knew better than to put a weapon in front of someone you don't trust. What were these people doing? She looked at Levue and Wolfe. What game were they playing?
Levue scowled, she shook her head. "I'm done. There's no point to this." She leveled a very cold stare at Damion. "You might as well finish this." She added, before standing up, and calmly leaving the interrogation room.
Morgana sighed in relief. Ding dong the witch was gone.
"Private? If I ever hear you speak to someone like that again, I'll speak to your superior." Damion said softly as he kept his stare onto Morgana. He shared the same concerns as Levue and the Marine, although he wasn't one to show it. He knew better then to throw out accusations without any means of proof. "You'll have to forgive them, Miss?" He said softly as he brought up his PADD and looked at it. "Morgana is it?"
The Marine wanted to retort, even had it on his tongue but thought better. 'No reason to give this man more reason to hate the Corps', he thought to himself, before leaving as well. His test hadn't panned out, but there was always round two.
Two down. At least the third one seemed reasonable. "Yes, my name's Morgana."
Damion gave her a smile and then looked at her PADD as he leaned back. "Reports from our Acting First Officer, who is in trouble already for disregarding protocol, read that the ship chasing you wasn't answering hails or making any attempt to stop. It was clearly stronger then you and faster, but it didn't destroy you. To be honest, not to alarm you, but it could have at any point. Aside from your planetary research, is there anything important on your files that they would have wanted?"
Morgana looked at Damion for several moments and blinked. "I don't know. I remember scanning the planet. Then I remember being attacked and rescued. Have you checked the ship to see if there's anything of value there?" Not a lot. There were some valuable readings on the planet. Some valuable minerals on the far side, but that was it. And a few scans of the underwater caverns.
"If that is your way of giving us your permission, then we will be happy to help in any way we can." Damion smiled as he looked at her. He tried to probe her surface thoughts, but so far she wasn't throwing any warning signs up. It was still too early to tell. "Tel me about your friend over there." He pointed to the monkey and then made a note in his PADD. "You had him long?"
Morgana looked at Kirk. "I don't know how long I've had him. His name's Kirk. And he likes dates." Her gaze turned to Damion. "I really don't remember much beyond that. Flashes here and there. That's why I hope the shuttle will tell you something.
"As soon as we check the ship's content we should be able to tell something. Even if you're lying to us." Damion said as he added information into his PADD and then looked up to her. "I want you to understand, most of the crew have already made their conclusion. Although, its not your fault considering what they have gone through, its understandable. I want you to know, I am not jumping to that conclusion. I believe there are reasons behind your attack and memory loss. I am on your side, Morgana." He gave her a smile and then leaned back a little bit, putting the PADD down and then giving her mind another telepathic sweep. He could feel she was struggling with her thought's. Either she was trying to remember or trying to come up with believable lies. In any case, he wasn't sure, he only knew that he needed more time to figure out.
"So, what do I do until you decide if I'm safe or not?"
"Avoid Security, pretty much." He laughed and then smiled as he looked at her. "Honestly, the best thing to do is just enjoy the comforts of this ship. Don't give them a reason to miss trust you. Basically just stay out of trouble."
Morgana walked over to Damion and gave him a big hug. "Thank you. You're the first person who's actually believed in me since I got here," she said softly. Maybe, with this man's help, things would finally begin to look up.
