Mission: The Race for the Lost Treasure
Location: Calypso Conference Room

ON

Samantha received approval from Starfleet to follow the map and see where it led. She also received some disturbing information. The night they left, the man she bought the map from was robbed and beaten. And someone was asking questions about the Calypso. A coincidence? Perhaps. But just in case, she told no one where they were going before they left Typhon. Now that they were several hours away, she called a staff meeting to update the crew.

The conference table was set with snack and she made herself a tall glass of cinnamon clove tea and waited for the crew to arrive.

Noelle walked in a curious look on her face, she was still a bit pale and tired looking but that wasn't going to stop her. "Captain, how are you?" She asked as she took a position along the wall, not wanting to sit down just yet.

Levue entered, and looked at the food. "Oh. Lovely! My favourite." Cassandra said, as she picked up a cream-filled danish. "Do you have bad coffee, or just normal coffee?" Cassandra asked Sam.

"Fresh-brewed in the pot," Sam said to Cassandra. She then turned to Noelle. "I'm good. The question is, how are you? Has the doctor cleared you for duty?"

"As far as I know I'm cleared for duty." She said "Just tired is all." Noelle said "Silly bruise who knew it could cause so much trouble."

"Well, I wouldn't call it silly," Sam said. "But I'm glad you're good now."

Doctor Bowen came in next and took a seat without going to the snack table first. It has been busy in sickbay lately and she hoped that this meeting wouldn't take long. She looked around at the crewmembers that have arrived, giving some attention to the marine female who was recently released from sickbay. Noelle, she remembered her name. She noted that her face is a little pale, but looks a little bit better than nothing.

Noelle nodded to Dr Bowen. Her olive skin was paler than normal and she had dark circles under her eyes. She said nothing. There was little she could say, Leanne knew what had happened and the recovery process.

Sophia walked in, carrying a mug of herbal tea in one hand and a PADD in the other. She offered a smile to everyone she made eye contact with and took a seat near the back of the room.

"Have you met the rest of the staff?" Sam asked Sophia.

"No, I haven't. It was on my list of things to do today." the counselor answered.

Sam nodded.

Levue scowled at the replicator. "Coffee, recipe Levue 1 Alpha." She instructed it. The hot, steaming brew appeared in a cup. It smelled wicked strong, and she added no cream, nor sweetener to it. "Silly people, and your non-disgusting coffee. Don't you realize, the worse the taste, the better the caffeine rush?" She muttered, as she sat down at the table. She took a sip, grimaced, and then nodded. "That's the stuff, right there."

Sam had to chuckle at that. In spite of the new security officer's preference, she Sam wasn't about to serve foul-tasting coffee to her senior staff to please one person.

Serena snuck over to her seat with out making any sound. She was swamped with work and she had forgotten what time it was. She brushed her messy hair out of her face and opened her PADD up for note taking. Perhaps the next mission she could get her own action in.

Tovan had stepped into the briefing room and like always he had simply moved to his seat and waited for the briefing to begin while examining the information on his PADD.

"Before I officially start the meeting, I'd like you all to meet our new Counselor, Sophia." She quickly introduced everyone and gave them a moment to respond if they wished.

Then she looked around the table at her crew. "While on Typhon I found a map to a hitherto undiscovered planet and a lost civilization. Starfleet has given us permission to check it out." She waited a minute for that to sink in. "There is a bit of a problem. The man who sold me the map was beaten and robbed the day after we left. He has no recollection of what happened -- even after receiving medical treatment. Two days ago, a petty officer who worked in Typhon's Flight Control Center disappeared without a trace. Starfleet Intelligence believes there's a connection between the two."

"Treasure hunt!" Marek blurted out then blushed greenish.

Sam smiled. "It looks that way."

"So where exactly is this treasure hunt going to be taking us?" Noelle asked from her spot against the wall. "Do they think that the petty officer was the one that beat your contact or that he was taken because he knew where we were going?" She asked.

"Probably the latter, but without proof, it's only supposition."

Noelle nodded "So we can expect some people to be less than pleased that we're out looking for this." She said more to herself than to anyone else.

"So it would seem. But we have a two-day head start. We'll get there, look around and be gone before whomever it is finds the planet."
