Mission:
Shades of Gray
Location: Commanding Officer's Ready Room
After successfully scaring the living resemblance of loyalty to the woman known as Tramira Kyt, out of the security department, within her first 5 minutes of being aboard, it then fell to the required task of reporting in to her Commanding Officer.
While she had read interesting things about Commander Damon Raine, she would be dealing more often, than not, directly with Captain Samantha York. She deemed it appropriate to introduce herself to Captain York, prior to meeting the executive officer.
She approached the door to the Commanding Officer's ready room. Her PADD, in hand, carried several collections of files. Her transfer orders, the reports issued by the SCIS Under Cover, which had resulted in her hasty dispatch, in the first place, and her report on the ship's security department, after disciplinary matters were attended to. She pressed the chime, and awaited Captain York's response.
"Come in," Sam said. She wasn't quite sure who to expect this time?
The unfamiliar woman entered the Commanding Officer's ready room, and nodded. She did a slight bow. "Captain York, I am Lieutenant Commander Cassandra Levue. I've been assigned, via emergency dispatch, as your Chief Security and Tactical Officer." She handed York the PADD. "File 1, includes my transfer papers, File 2 covers SCIS reports, and complaints, regarding two individuals, currently placed in custody, as of 7 minutes ago, and three others, either criminally detained, or deceased, or listed as missing in action."
Sam took the PADD and thumbed through it before waving the woman to the seat opposite her desk. "Give me the Reader's Digest version. I'll read this in detail later."
"As you may, or may not be aware, every SCIS dispatch, assigned to any Security department, is assigned an Under Cover Internal Affairs officer. This officer, who you may, or may not know, but, as it is no longer an under cover position, due to this event, is a Civilian Federation Marshal Services representative, a criminal pathologist, named Janine Donovan. She forwarded several IA files to Starfleet Security, regarding security irregularities." Levue stated. "Commodore Watkins, deputy director of information management, was the external, unbiased third party. Prior to Kyt deciding that the magistrate's building required renovations, she was already slated for replacement. Thus, I am here. Ensigns Daniels, and Stran have been arrested for dereliction of duty, and endangering Federation, Starfleet, and civilian assets. There are also additional charges applied, posthumously, in Mister Jaxara's case, to Chief Warrant Officer Alexandria Winchester, Lieutenant Lorne Jaxara, and Lieutenant Kyt Tramira."
"Tramira Kyt," Sam corrected quietly.
She finished her brief review, and sat, patiently, awaiting the Captain's response.
"Dereliction of Duty?" Sam asked. "And why Jaxara?"
"Tramira Kyt, and Lorne Jaxara both, have repeatedly been insubordinate, and excessively volatile, and violent. It is the decision of the SCIS investigator, in charge of those investigations, that formal charges should have been levied against him, in the first place." Cassandra said. "Ensigns Daniels, and Stran, have both, repeatedly, either assisted these activities, or through inactivity, permitted them to continue. At least, as far as the investigation is concerned."
"Yes, they have been volatile. Charges were levied against Jaxara. He was issued NJP. If Tramira had survived, she would be facing charges for her recent activities. I have no interest in persuing anything posthumously." She folded her arms and considered Casandra for a moment. "If you have anything tangible against Daniels and Stran, I would like to see it. If this is a fishing expedition, cut bait and move on."
"The padd contains the collection of issues with Dnsign Daniels. Stran left approved medical care without clearance. " Cassandra said, curtly.
"Stran is pardoned. I'll review what you have on Ensign Daniels and get back to you. Is there anything else you need to bring up at this time? Besides reporting in?"
"No, ma'am. " Cassandra said, nodding.
"Well, there's nothing like being thrown in at the deep end, Lieutenant." Sam smiled at the other officer. "Good luck."
