[OLD]

"Keep me informed, Ensign," she said to Tyler. Then she turned to Damon. "You have the bridge."

[NEW]

Damon simply nodded as he watched Sam walk off the bridge.

Wexler, already heading towards the bridge acknowledged and once on the bridge walked directly to the Captain's ready room, depressing the chime as he approached.

"Come in," Sam said, turning to face the door.

Preston walked into the CO's office. "You needed to see me?"

"Yes. It seems your ... unique talent is needed. Someone has kidnapped Lieutenant Tramira. I'd like you to see if the local government has any information."

"Frankly Captain, the local government has shown little interest in cooperation. If they were really interested in cooperation they would have brought their leader to the table instead of sending low level attendants." Preston was not surprised that there was a kidnapping and didn't put it past the officials of the planet, carrying out such a mission.

"By the same token, Commander, if we'd been serious, I would have been at the meeting." She paused to consider the man. "Are you inferring that I should be the one to contact the government?"

Wexler nodded. "Perhaps that will work Captain, but surely the leader down there sees the writing on the wall. One cannot expect to negotiate from a position of power unless they actually have power to utilize."

"There's something decidedly odd about this planet and its government," Sam mused. "I don't like it. Contact the planet. Arrange for me to meet their leader. I'd like you to come with me."

Wexler nodded. "Will there be anything else Captain?"

"Not yet," she replied with a half smile. "See you later."

Ronnie sat at her desk, continuing to analyze the data from the planet. There had to be some connection between the plague and the famine.

Pestilence, war, famine, death? Didn't they have something to do with the Four Horsemen? She chuckled at her fancifulness. She doubted anyone would appreciate the humor in that -- except her. Still, the planet had seen its share of famine and death. War? Possibly. Pestilence? That was still to be seen. There did seem to be a pattern. The plague seemed to start in three cities, then quickly spread through commerce and travel. But why three? What did those three cities have in common? She made note of them and pulled out the political data. It was an obvious cause, but one she needed to rule out before moving on to more logical solutions.

Ronnie replicated a cup of hot cocoa and some buttered toast before returning to her desk. This was going to take a while.

Stran entered the bridge. He looked at Tyler, with just a single quirked eyebrow, and, to a trained eye, a look of distinct worry.. for a Vulcan.

"We've got nothing, Stran." Tyler whispered. "Daniels is prepping an investigations team."

"Have Ensign Madison Tyler take the bridge. You will meet me, and the rest of the investigations team in the transporter room in precisely 4.7 minutes." Stran said, softly.

"Stran, technically you and Daniels are the next to left in command of Secur-" Tyler said, keeping his voice soft.

"Not relevant. If it was Madison-" Stran started.

"Say not another word, chap. 4.56 minutes now, I think." Tyler said, with a chuckle.

"4.53." Stran noted, dryly, as he headed back in to the turbo-lift.

"Ensign Tyler, please report to the tactical station." Tyler's voice echoed through the intercomms, nearly immediately.

"Good luck." Damon said quietly to the departing investigations team. He didn't really like the way most of them handled themselves, but he knew what it was like to have one of their own missing and the sense of dread that follows.

"Why, thank you, chap." Tyler said, nodding. "And, good luck to you, as well."

Maddison stepped on to the bridge, for the first time. She looked about, briefly, at the people, at their stations.

Robert nodded. "Kyt." He whispered.

Maddison nodded. "Stran said so at the turbo-lift." She briefly caught Robert's hand. "Stay safe."

"Always." Robert said, with a chuckle, as he headed into the turbo-lift.

Dialing back her environmental field, so that her hands wouldn't soak the console, she then took her place. A quick check of the boards, and she nodded. She looked over at the Commander, who seemed to be preoccupied with something. Shaking her head, she resumed the scans that Robert had paused, looking for Kyt.

Sam tapped on her combadge. "York to Raine. Can you come to my ready room for a moment?" She needed to tell Damon about her conversation with Wexler, and she needed to do it in private.

"On my way." He clipped in response. He stood up and looked at the tactical officer. He had never seen her before but he heard her name mentioned a moment ago.

"Ensign Tyler, you have the bridge." He promptly turned heel for the ready room after passing the ship over to her.

The Aquatic woman nodded, but remained at her station.
