Mission: Shades of Gray
Location: Various
Timeline: Current

Samantha sat on the bridge, monitoring the activities on the ship and on the surface.

Damon was reading mission preparedness reports from all sections of the Calypso as he sat in the chair beside Samantha. He was still unused to what some of these reports were saying about their departments since he was still new to the Fleet side. He DID know how the Marine side of it all worked so he started reading through those PADDs first. He hoped the rest would come with time.

Sam glanced over at Damon and smiled. Even though he had a lot to learn, he was doing a good job and she was thrilled to have him by her side.

Marek sat at the main console facing the warp core behind the screen. He and Tavish were investigating the latest planetary scans; he noticed several things that didn't quite make sense.

"Do you see what I see?" Marek asked.

"Tell me what you see and if it is the same as I see I'll say." Tavish said.

Marek gestured to the readings. "It appears that there are signatures for just about every race's technology on this world. Even Borg." He said.

Tavish nodded. "I noticed that as well. Though not everywhere on the planet, just certain groupings of those technologies around the planet which is odd."

"I agree, why not just share it unless there are factions." Marek suggested.

"Factions?" Tavish asked.

Marek frowned. "It would seem like that; the only way to be sure would be to go down there and ask people."

"We'll ask the Captain." Tavish replied and the two quickly headed for the Bridge.

Shuttle bay

Serena made her way down to the shuttlebay, were she would be sending supplies down to surface. She was slightly worried what she was going to see. She never did really well when it came to the saverely sick. She kept in her head to keep it professional the time she was there no matter what. When she reached her destination, she was greeted by Callen, one of her officers.

"Sir," Callen stated when she saw Seren enter into the room, "You requested my services?"

"Yes Chief Warrent," she stated as she cued her to walk with her, "I want you to assist the Doctor and her Officers on the planet. Since you have some medical background I want you to help with the wounded if you don't mind."

"Not at all Chief," Callen replied with a sweet smile.

Robert Tyler looked up, from the Tactical Console. "Lieutenant Jones is departing now, ma'am." He said, looking at the console. "Either that, or we've got a broken tail light."

"I hope it's not the taillight. If so, you'll have to EVA to fix it," Sam said with a half smile. Then she grew more serious. "Let me know when she lands safely."

"I'm not certified for EVA yet." Tyler said, with a chuckle. "Willco, on Lieutenant Jones."

"I have confirmed that Lieutenant Jones has landed..." Tyler said. He stopped. "Uhm... Captain... I've got a call from..."

"Calypso, this is Daniels. I need you to do a scan for for Lieutenant Junior Grade Kyt. She appears to be missing." Daniels' annoyed voice came over the comms.

"Roger that, Ground unit. Will report at once." Robert said, looking down at the console. He looked up at Captain York. "Ma'am did you..."

"I did. Scan the planet. See if you can find her," Sam said. She looked over at Damon. "Any suggestions?"

"Right now my default answer is more Marines. I doubt that would be of any help though if we don't know where to look." He said.

"Comm-badge is sitting on the ground, at last reported location." Robert noted. "Scanning for Bajoran DNA..."

The computer beeped. "Uh... I've got a lot of areas that I can't seem to scan, but she's not in detection range."

"Note all those areas. I've got a bad feeling about this." Sam shook her head, trying to shake the feeling. "Contact Ensign Daniels. Have him set up a security investigation team. Tell the Marines to double their guard."

"Daniels, this is Calypso. Get your bags, and let the Marines handle Security down there. We need a security investigations team, on the double." Tyler said, nodding. "Captain's orders, if the marines balk at it."

"Roger that, Calypso." Daniels' voice returned.

"I want a security investigator to investigate. I don't want them taking over from the Marines, Ensign. The Marines have an important job to do. If they can help with the investigation, fine, but their primary responsibility is to keep the team safe," Sam clarified. The last thing she wanted was contention between the Marines and Security.

"Ma'am, my request was for the Marines to take over the security positions that the members of our investigations unit are currently handling." Tyler responded. "I did not ask them to assist with the investigation." And, as he knew nothing about the Marines stationed, nor would he. He didn't add that, but Samantha would likely have caught it via telepathy.

"If the Marines have a problem, they can bring it to me or to Commander Raine." She wasn't particularly worried about the Marines. They were a good group of men and women. They'd step in wherever they were needed.

Sam tapped her combadge."York to Commander Wexler. Meet me in my ready room."

"Keep me informed, Ensign," she said to Tyler. Then she turned to Damon. "You have the bridge."
