Samantha waited in the transporter room for Commander Wexlar. She wasn't looking forward to this trip to the planet, having promised Damon she'd stay on board this time round; but if the governor of the planet would talk to no one but Sam, then she had no choice but to beam down. At least once. If this meeting went as badly as the last one, there would not be a next one.
Wexler entered the transporter room. "Captain." He nodded as he stepped up onto the transporter pad.
"Commander," Sam replied. She stepped onto the pad beside him. "Engage," she said to the transporter chief.
They materialized in a large chamber. Several humanoids waited for them.
The governor of the present was present, along with the 1st, and 2nd assistants, Wik, and Jip. He nodded. "I am governor Mik." He said with a nod. "Can I assist you with something?"
Jip whispered something in the governor's ears.
"WHY THE HELL WASN'T I TOLD?" The governor demanded.
Jip pointed at Wik.
Wik kicked Jip. "Wilsh, who is Third, was to tell you. When he left the council chambers precipitously, we believed it was his eagerness to be first to inform you of the Waxier and his minions."
Sam watched them in surprise. "Governor, I was told you would speak to no one but me. So, here I am."
"I don't quite understand. I'm told you claim to be missing staff members. I'm afraid I do not understand." The Governor said. He counted his assistants. "Where is the third, anyways?"
"We thought he came here," Wik said. He looked around the room, as if expecting Wilsh to pop out from behind a chair.
"One of my security officers was kidnapped," Sam said. "I say kidnapped because there is clear evidence of a struggle. Her combadge was left behind. What do you and your people know of this?"
"This is the first I had known of it." The Governor said, glaring at Jip, and Wik. "For which, I am greatly sorry. Had I known, I would have had my intelligence gathering forces already at work."
Jip simply pointed at Wik again.
Wik pointed back to Jip.
"Do you have any sort of surveillance recordings of the area?" Sam asked the governor, trying very had not to roll her eyes in exasperation. With these clowns in charge it was no wonder the lanet was in chaos.
"How would I know? Jip, get Wik to go talk with our intelligence people." The governor said to Jip. Jip nodded. He then kicked Wik, and pointed at the door.
Wik really missed Wilsh. With no Third, he was stuck doing all the dirty work. Grumbling under his breath, Wik shuffled out the door.
Sam watched him go in mild surprise. This was getting crazier by the minute. She turned back to the governor. "Our supplies are here. Is there anything particular you wish us to do in the way of disbursement?"
"I'm a politician." The Governor noted, with obvious disdain. "I'm not a doctor. I assume you know what's best."
Jip moved to whisper something in the Governor's ear.
"Shut up, Jip." Governor said, softly. "The lady is about to speak."
"So, basically, you don't care what we do as long as we do it, correct?" she asked, trying to keep her voice calm and level.
"And accept full responsibility for it, yes." Jip noted.
The governor nodded.
"Well, I know where we stand. Now it's your turn." She smiled coolly at the governor. "Send me everything you have that could possibly help[ me find my missing security chief. I'll begin the disbursement. If we discover that your planet is stealing technology from other worlds or is in any way responsible for my missing officer or the problem your planet is facing, you will be brought up on charges. Federation if you wish. Otherwise, I will leave you to the mercy of ... whomever. I promise you, the Federation will be far more lenient than the Romulans or the Klingons. Good day, gentlemen."
Sam was done talking. Wexler had been unusually quiet, but under the circumstances she couldn't blame him. These three were more like something out of The Three Stooges than any goverment officials she'd ever encountered.
She tapped her combadge. "York to Calypso. Two to beam up."
