Mission:
Shades of Gray
Location: Bridge
Lieutenant Kevin Benning-Wexler entered the main bridge and strolled over to the science station. "Lieutenant Lancaster?" He asked as he approached.
Ronnie was going over data from the planet, especially regarding the soil, flora and fauna. She looked up when she heard her name. "Yes?" She didn't recognize the man in the doorway.
"Sorry to bother Lieutenant, but I'd like to take a look at the scans you've been getting from the planet. I'm hoping they can give some insight into the situation on the planet." Kevin smiled and paused. "Oh..." He laughed at himself. "Very sorry Lieutenant. I'm Lieutenant Kevin Benning-Wexler."
"Oh, yes. You just came on board, didn't you?" Ronnie said, standing to greet the Lieutenant. "Hi. I've been compiling the data into categories to see if I can find patterns and similarities." She stepped back so Kevin could see it. "Are you looking for anything in particular? Right now I'm looking at how the planet's current epidemic is affecting crops and livestock. It appears there's also a bit of a drought on the planet as well."
Kevin tried to smile but the idea of crop cycles bored him to death. "I was actually seeing if I could get a report on all of the energy signatures found on the planet so that I can begin working with other engineers to do an analysis. It's important for us to understand the technology they have in place so that we may best understand how to assist them."
Ronnie chuckled. She got that response a lot. She pulled out a PADD and copied the data he wanted. "I glanced at the energy signatures when I was compiling data. There's an odd assortment, but nothing that jumps out. You're more than welcome to see what you can find. Me, I'm going to work on my crop cycles and weather patterns before moving on to population centers and refugee camps."
Quickly scanning the information Kevin was instantly excited. "You do realize that there is a wealth of information here..." He grinned a bit. "Thank you Lieutenant. I'm off to separate harmonic wavelengths!"
"Sounds fascinating," Ronnie said, chuckling. "You can always take my crop cycles and I'll take your harmonic wavelengths -- although they're not as mellifluous as the sound of birdsong and leaves rustling in the breeze."
As the other officer turned and walked off the bridge, Ronnie turned back to her crop cycle analysis while she monitored the science station.
