The team beamed into a large musty-smelling warehouse. Two dozen crates of various sizes were clumped in corners, but for the most part it was empty.
A half-dozen windows let a trickle of light in, but it wasn't much. A large double door at one end showed the way out. Except for the occasional creek and groan, it was eerily silent.
As soon as the away team materialized in this room, Leanne coughed a few times as she waved the air to clear whatever it was. "It stinks...dusty smell." She squinted her eyes trying to see in the half-dark room. "And not much light in here. Somebody has the light?"
Daniels hit a button on something that came out of his bag. Immediately, the room filled with bright light. "I've got the light."
Kyt, phaser rifle out, with Flash-light on, was already doing a perimeter scan with her tricorder. "Immediate area clear of life signs. I'll do a precautionary sweep, for things like explosive devices. Daniels, help the Doctor, and her staff get started."
Daniels hit another feature on his large tower device. "Comm center is up. We've got power-cell ignition. We'll be able to activate the-"
"Daniels, do not, under any circumstances, discuss any of the equipment, or supplies we have brought with us, until we're done with the bug, and hidden camera sweep. That's enough." Kyt said, with a scowl.
"You take that side, I'll search this side," Leo said looking at Kyt then walking to the left. His rifle was up and charged, the portable tricorder running inches from his face, scanning everything. He was walking slowley, looking at every possible nook and crannie. "Corporal, take up a position on the roof, and let me know whats going on outside. Make sure it's clear first."
Chi was covering her noise from the smell "roger sir getting right on it"
She exited the building checking the corners as she went around once she was done clearing the out side "she yelled out side perimeter cleared"
Chi looked around the out side for a way up o the roof there were some box's on the left side she used them to get up onto the roof once on the roof she couched down making sure not to sky line here self. Just in case there were, people around she dug in her bag for her eyepiece (Exographic targeting sensor) to scan at longer distance. Once she did a 360 sweep she made shooting position on the roof then taped her com badge "Leo this is Chi
I just did a 360 degree sweep we are in the clear I have set up a position on the roof pulling security how copy over".
"You're fine. Just make sure that no one tries to mob the building. Keep me in the know." Leo sighed and looked around.
Noelle stood guard near the medical team, her rifle at the ready as she too scanned with a tricorder center on the team and sweeping outwards. She stiffled a sneeze from the dust and smell.
"Captain, where do you want us to start?" Kara asked Mangalia.
"I need the rest of you men to start setting up the operation. Prepare for the members of the planet to come in for treatment and food, along with two guards on every entrance or exit point in here. So far, there's only one." Slinging his rifle he turned around. "These people need help, lets make sure they get that help."
Noelle nodded "Kara, you're with me at the main entrance." She said "How soon are we to expect the first civilians?"
Kara nodded. "Tomorrow, 0600 local time."
"Clear." Kyt's voice came from the other side of the room, after a phaser shot. "Just a rat I had to vaporize for sanitary reasons."
Daniels nodded. "Initiating transporter interference. Any transporter beam that doesn't match one of our DNA scans, or come accompanied with a Comm badge will just reflect back to originating source. Calypso will not have issues with it."
Kyt nodded, walking over to the folded-out tower. "Brilliant technology." She nodded to the Doctors. "Give them a hand."
Daniels nodded. Kyt picked something resembling a breaker-box behind where Daniels stood. She opened it up, and frowned. The fuses were all in working place. She checked through them all, and then found the master-power switch on the side of the box. She pulled it up, and locked it in place, then hit an archaic device known as a light switch next to the box. Over-head lighting came on, throughout the wharehouse.
"Kyt to Calypso, have Engineering manufacture, and beam down about thirty 12 amp fuses. The lighting technology is borderline medieval down here." Kyt said, after tapping her comm badge.
She read the fuse panel, for the remaining devices. Lighting, Security Network, Heating. Were the three columns. Deciding that an external security network would be a threat, she pulled all seven fuses out, and kept them in her pocket, for use in case any of the more necessary systems gave way. "Electrical system clear."
"Good lord," the surgeon said when the security officer found a rat. "I wouldn't be able to do surgery in a place like this...crawling with germs and rodents."
"Corpsman," Leo said turning around. Two Marines brightened up at the back at the back of the pack. "Set the good Doc up with a Battlefield in here." Walking to Bowen he smiled and clapped her on the shoulder. "You'll be able to do what ever you need to in about an hour." Walking past her, he moved over to Kyt. "Alright, what kind of security are we looking at," he asked kneeling down next to the box.
"Yes, sir...", said a corpsman at the back of the room.
Feeling a sense of good friendship from this marine leader, Leanne smiled at him. "Oh, good. Thanks for help of getting things going." She placed the duffel bag down and looked around at whatever light they had. She agreed with the surgeon about how dirty this place was. Better than nothing, she reminded herself.
Kyt scowled. "There was an operating security network, reporting to the outside somewhere. I pulled it's fuses. I'm going to trace down the main panel, and deactivate that, as well. If need be, I intend to vaporize it. We do not need anyone spying on us, in any way."
"You're the one with the Security know-how Kyt. We just like blowing stuff up. My scans didn't get anything on the other half of the building so that parts clear, including the lucious office with twelve person hot tub, gold plated latinum lamp, pen set, blotter, and chair set." Leo smiled and pointed to the barely visible door. "And a bar that would make even a die hard alcoholic weep in pleasure."
