Talia finished her report on Mythraeli and knocked on Lieutenant JG McGraw's door.
Without looking up, he raised his voice a bit. "Enter."
Talia walked in and nodded politely. "I finished my report on the Mythraeli scans, sir."
Glancing up, he smiled and nodded. "Please, have a seat. I will be right with you." He paused for a moment, then added, "Would you care for anything to drink?"
Talia smiled and shook her head. "no, thank you." She set the PADD on the desk and sat down.
Continuing on with the last of his personnel updates, he turned to Talia. "So whats up?"
"My report on the survey of the moon," she said.
"Oh really?" Randy looked up and smiled. "What have you got for me?"
"Dotting my i's and crossing my t's, sir. The area of interference was centered around the away team. All data basically supports the scuttlebutt I've been hearing about sentient trees."
Randy leaned over to look at the PADD she had set on his desk. "You know, I can honestly say I have seen just about everything now. Sentient rocks, sentient trees, heck, the next thing you know there will be some sort of sentient meteor, or comet." Shaking his head with good natured humor, he let out a dry chuckle.
"If that happens, I promise to duck, sir," Tania replied with a mischievous grin. "Although, if the meteor were sentient, it would recognize the duck and alter course. In that case, maybe we should find a way to make chocolate torpedoes. Doesn't everything sentient in the galaxy like chocolate?"
Groaning in mock dismay, Randy just sat there and shook his head. "You females and your chocolate. I swear I will never understand it, no matter how long I live."
"That's okay. You don't need to understand it, you just need to accept it." Talia chuckled. "Just like we accept hockey."
He just stared in her in confusion. "What in the heck is this hockey of which you speak?"
That made her laugh out loud. "An Earth sport. Men dress up in protective padding, and ice skates. They hit a hockey puck with long sticks and try to get the puck into the opponent's net. It's more a fight than a game half the time."
Raising an eyebrow, and grinning slightly, he chuckled. "Sounds like it might be interesting to try sometime. Was there anything else you had for me?"
Talia chuckled and shook her head. There were a number of things she could say, but she refrained. "Not at the moment, sir."
Randy stood and walked over to her. "Well in that case, how about you and I go and get a drink? It's on me." With that said, he gave a slight bow, and then offered her his arm.
Talia slipped her hand through the crook of his arm and smiled up at him. "I'd be delighted."
"Outstanding. I have a really old bottle of Merlot from Earth. I have been waiting for the right person to share it with. You interested in dinner as well?"
Her smile turned into a grin. "I'm interested," she answered ambiguously.
"Let's away then." He led the way to the turbolift.
