Ronnie wandered around the flight deck in search of Lieutenant JG McGraw. She wanted to talk to him about the scans his fighters obtained and ask about the possibility of a second mission over Mythraeli.
A pilot pointed her in the direction of his office and she rang the door chime.
"Come in." Randy looked up from the compiled data from their scans in anticipation of whoever was on the other side of the door.
"HI. I'm Ronnie Lancaster. Do you have a minute to talk about the scans you took of the planet?"
"Sure, what you got for me?"
"It appears there's something on the planet blocking or impeding scans and communications. I want to talk to you about what you found when you did the flyover and see if there's anything that can help us find out what it is."
Randall nodded, and then pointed out each of the eight coordinates that mapped out where he had lost comms with each of his teams. "The four coordinate sets marked in blue mark where I lost tabs and comms with Hawk Squadron, and the ones in red with Eagle Squadron. Any ideas at this point?"
"No," Ronnie admitted. "Except that it gives us a specific area to focus our investigation. At least it's a relatively small area, geographically. Do you have any ideas?" It was a long shot as he wasn't a scientist, but he might have some observations she hadn't considered.
Randy shook his head and sighed. "Not particularly, although...." He let his voice trail off as a thought struck him.
"What?"
"I was trying to remember whether it was the geological or the biological scan....we picked up some rather unusual fluctuations...almost like there was something there that was able to pick up our more specific scans, and...block them somehow." He looked at her, then started racing through the scan data.
"Ah, here it is." He then handed it over to Ronnie to examine.
Ronnie read the data several times, then looked up at andy. "You're right. This is most interesting. There does seem to be some intelligent design in the interference." She stood and shook the Lieutenant's hand. "Thank you. You've been most helpful."
