Mission: Peace, or Something Like It
Location: Mercenary Ship
Timeline: Current

[Mercenary Ship]

[OLD]

Kara groaned silently and got into position. She motioned to the others that she'd take the second target. She signaled for Thompson to take the third before turning and preparing for the next assault.

[Sixty Feet from the Bridge]

Leroy and his team were pinned down, energy beams lancing all around the place. He was afraid that one would catch the wrong weak point and blow them into the depths of space. Firing back, he growled and looked around. None of his team was dead, yet. They had the man power to hold them from the bridge, and it wasn't going to end pretty. "Frag Out!" he called as he tossed a grenade into the tight pack of Merc's. As the pop sounded, he watched three of them fly off into the open door of the bridge, and his fire redoubled. He needed to drop more of them, then take the bridge as soon as possible. "Rear Contact!" one Marine called, the explosives expert he had grabbed. Looking behind him, he began swearing in several different languages.

"Keep them back there, blow in the wall if you have to!" he called back, then spun and laid down fire so his man could get to cover. This wasn't going to plan and he was ready to call in the cavalry. -^-Mangalia to Raine. You can join the party at any time if you want to.-^-

Using the weapon the Lieutenant gave her trying to get off a shoot. "Sir, please can I use my weapon? We could be out of mess with in minute max, Sir." Chichire said angrily. She wasn't mad at the Lieutenant, he was just ignorant. She was mad she was pinned down and not able to do her job.

Leo looked back at her and shook his head. "It's a sniper rifle, and we're in a heated fire fight. In the amount of time that it would take for you to aim, fire and reload, three of them would have a bead on you." Stepping into plain view, he fired again, hitting one, and drawing the fire of several others. As he dove to the left, something clipped his right foot, sending fire like pain up his leg. Ignoring it, he slid into the wall, and attempted to reload the rifle he had just emptied.

[Calypso Transporter Room]

Damon heard the exchange and nodded as he walked over to the transporter officer on hand. "I want you to beam us in on top of their location." He then positioned himself on the transporter pad, followed closely by the remainder of the Marine squad.

The transporter's officer frowned as his hands tapped at the console in front of him. Several seconds passed with nothing more but a deepening furrow.

"What's wrong?" Damon asked.

"I can't seem to localise a location to beam you to. Something is scrambling the signal." He responded without looking up.

The Marine CO stepped off the pad and hurriedly made his way to transport consol. "Is it some sort of shielding?" He asked as he pulled up beside him.

"Seems so. It would have to be localised since it isn't running off the current ships operating system. It looks like they have blocked transport to the bridge, engineering and armoury sections." He looked up at the Major with a look of defeat in his eyes. "There's nothing I can do."

Damon swore and thumped his fist against the consol. =A=Leroy, you are on your own. We can't transport over. The merc's have a dampening field operating near where you are and the only way to get through is for you to manually turn it off. =A= He shook his head =A=Do what you can Marine.=A=

[Engineering Team]

Kara groaned silently and got into position. She motioned to the others that she'd take the second target. She signaled for Thompson to take the third before turning and preparing for the next assault.

Maxwell watched as the targets fell to the ground. He was pleased with the way that the unit was performing. He looked down each hallway than to Kara. "Which way should we go now?"

Kara pulled out her tricorder. "This way," she said, pointing. "Another sixty yards and we'll be there. At this point, though, I suspect there will be more mercenaries waiting for us in engineering. And possibly a trap of some sort."

They met no one on the way, fortunately. When the team arrived at the doors to engineering, Kara stopped and looked at Trent. "With your luck, you go first."

Trent moved forward and reloaded his weapon as he stood in front of the door. His lip lifted in a half smile to belie the dread he suddenly felt in his gut. He was better when he wasn't thinking about the stupidity he was getting into; in this situation he had lots of time to think over all of the things that could go wrong. For all his talk and thoughtless actions, however, Trent would never question or refuse to abide by a superiors order.

"I expect free drinks tonight from all of you." He said without looking to any of the Marines. He mentally prepared himself for what was going to come.

Maxwell moved to the other side of the door and positioned himself. Two Marines followed him. One stood next to him while the other one watched their six. They just waited for the rest of the team to open the door so they could move in.

[Bridge Team]

The silence was deafening, and Leo peaked out, seeing his men were alive, and the Merc's they had been fighting were either dead, dying, or captured. Pulling himself out of the cubby that he had jumped into to reload his weapon he smiled. "Blow the door," he said, aiming his weapon directly for the point of entrance. Nodding, the Sergeant trot forward, laying the breaching explosives on the sides and middle of the locked doors. Several of the Merc's began to chuckle, thinking that they were going to blow the door to smitherines, but Leo looked back and smiled. "When your ready son, hit the button." He didn't look, and the other Marines turned their backs to the door, then it exploded.

Flying inside to the bridge, the sound of duranium doors striking softer bone sounded, as did screams of pain, shock, and anger. Leo, followed by two or three of the Marines closest to him, tossed in photon grenades, set to high stun. Turning their backs again, the photonic energy blew, sending a stun shock wave through the cramped area, knocking most, if not all of the bridge crew on the ground. -^-Mangalia to Engineering team, photon grenades and a shock wave seemed to work pretty well. Take it, take it now.-^-
