Mission:
Peace, or Something Like It
Location: Civilian Complex, Turkana IV, part 2
Timeline: Current - Security Team
[OLD]
An explosive bullet hit the base of the staircase, and a high-intensity phaser shot hit the top. "We're not being followed this way." He said. For good measure, an extra explosive shot went to the roof immediately above the bottom of the staircase. The minor cave-in blocked the access from the team that was attacking them.

"I suppose we will find out." Delon stated. He moved forward. It was an effective way of stopping the attackers from following them that is unless they had another way up. There was also nothing stopping them from simply shooting through the floor of the second level. But he hoped that they weren't that smart.
As they came around the corner they were faced with a long hallway. On each side of the hallway they could make out that there were doors. Some were closed while others open. They could also hear the attackers below them trying to figure out what had just happened.
They moved down the hallway checking each door. All of the rooms were exactly the same. They were about 10 by 10 meters. There was some type of work stations in the room. One work station was located on the right side while the other was opposite from it on the right.
There was total of ten rooms along the hallway. They came up to the last door. To their surprise this room was different from the others. It was half the size of the others and there was a panel on the wall in front of them. Delon looked at the other two then stepped closer to the panel and pressed it.
The panel on the wall light up land they could hear something moving behind it. After a couple of seconds whatever was moving stopped and a door opened in front of them. It was a lift.
Delon looked over at the other two. "I suppose we should go down."
"And the door will open, and we will get shot in the face." Kyt noted.
"We could send a remote mine down. Wait for the doors to open, and blow it. Then force the door, and climb down the shaft." Jaxara suggested.
"Hmmm...wouldn't that cave in the entrance as well?" Delon asked.
Jaxara shook his head. "Elevator shafts are extremely sturdy, in their construction." He said, and he nodded to his scanners. "And it should be able to tolerate it. Otherwise, I'm open to other options."
"Alright, that's good enough for me. If you think it can be done. Do it!" Delon stated.
Jaxara stepped out of the elevator on the floor they had just cleared, and nodded. "Hope you are good at climbing." He muttered.
"What? You aren't going to be a gentleman, and carry me down?" Kyt asked.
Jaxara shook his head, and nodded to her bag. "We'll need a remote explosive."
"I don't got one. I have timed ones though." Kyt noted.
"Timed it is. Everyone think of a number, and blurt it out at the same time. We'll add them up, and divide it by three." Jaxara said.
Kyt laughed. "Or you could just, you know, take the elevator down once, see how long that takes, and come right back up."
Delon looked at Kyt and nodded. "I am with her on this one."
Kyt nodded, and shoved Jaxara into the lift, then quickly hit the "Down" button.
A few moments later, the lift returned. Jaxara scowled. "45 seconds. Add 5 to it for the door to open."
"Did you see any guards while down there?" Delon asked.
Jaxara nodded. "The door closed before the lasers hit me." He said, with a shake of the head.
"Well in that case blow it up, Lieutenant." Delon stated.
He nodded to Kyt. She set the mine, and nodded to Delon. "You might want to step back."
Jaxara took a few steps back from the lift, and scowled. "This had better work."
He nodded and stepped back.
Kyt hit the start timer button, and hit the down button on the lift, then jumped back.
About a minute or so later, the structure shook quite a bit. The floor directly above the blast caved in, and Jaxara fell down 3 floors with the rubble. The lift only noted two available floors.
Kyt looked down. "You alive down there?"
Delon watched Jaxara fall down into the caved in floor. He looked at Kyt than rushed over to the hole looking down. "Lieutenant, are you okay?"
Jaxara looked around the room. "Get your buts down here. I can't move, I'm coughing up blood, and I think I may have landed on the Grand Marshall."
-----
The room shook violently. Suddenly, the forcefield blocking Sam's telepathy disappeared. "Oh, crap!" Sam muttered. She grabbed Teenan and pulled him against the wall just as the ceiling fell in.
She was even more surprised to see Jaxara in the rubble. "No, that was our prisoner," she told him. "The Gand Marshall is safe -- fortunately."
She climbed over to Jaxara. "I'm not sure whether to hug you or smack you," she said with mixed concern and resignation. "But first, we have to get you help." She tapped Jaxara's combadge. "Emergency beam out. One to sickbay. Captain's orders."
Jaxara gave her a scowl. "I think I broke my liver."
When Jaxara was gone, she shouted up to the others. "Can you get us out of here?"
"I've got rope, and there is something to tether it to here. Hold on a moment." Kyt's voice noted.
She turned to Teenan. "Contact your people. Stop the attack. Now."
Teenan nodded after briefly dusting himself off. He quickly pressed a few buttons on his arm and began talking in a hushed tone.
"Commander, are you alright?" Delon yelled down as Kyt got her rope.
Kyt tethered the rope to a structural support pylon. She tossed the rope down. "Do you require assistance climbing out, or shall we come grab you?"
"I'm fine. Get the Grand Marshall up first. He has to contact his people immediately." She glared at Teenan. "And stop the attack or I will personally see to it that your people lose." She handed Teenan the rope. "Go ahead. I'll come up after you."
He glared back at the her "I think I'll come up when I'm good and ready Commander." He seemed angry from the reports he was getting back from his people. "The attack has been stopped, so you can be rest assured of that."
Kyt looked over the lip of the damaged craters. She aimed her phaser down the hole, at the Grand Marshall. "You were told to climb. You will do so immediately, or I will stun you, and carry you up myself."
"Stand down, Marine," Sam ordered. She turned to the Grand Marshall. "I will get you safely out of here. Then we can part ways. But until then, your safety is my primary responsibility. So, Grand Marshall, after you."
Delon looked over to Kyt. "Put it down, Sergeant."
Kyt scowled. "It would have been easier my way." She whispered.
Teenan's lips curled back for an instant at the Marine's comment. Just like them to be ignorant of the people they were dealing with. His implants made his hearing many times more sensitive than normal human's, a fact not carefully hidden in their records of his planet.
Teenan looked back to Samantha and growled as he took the rope from her. "My safety has never been your responsibility."
Still, he began to climb up the proffered rope.
"I'm not so sure about that Sergeant." Delon said as he looked down the hole to the now climbing Grand Marshal. "He does appear to be slightly on the heavy side." He whispered to Kyt.
Teenan stopped his ascent and looked up at the officer. "My body is mostly made up of a metal polymer you fool!" His voice resonated.
Kyt scowled, and looked down. "You ready to come out, Commander?"
"As soon as the Grand Marshall is safely up," Sam said. "And, for your information, sir, I have to get you safely out of here. At that point I will gladly turn you over to your own people."
When the Grand Marshall was safely out of the hole, the rope dropped and Sam made her assent. "Lieutenant Tovan," she said. "Let's get out of here."
Delon nodded. "Tovan to Calypso. Four to beam up." The four of them disappeared from inside the building only to reappear in the transporter room aboard the Calypso.
