Location: Chief Engineer's Office
Timeline: Current
Alex asked that the new Chief Flight Officer come see her in her office. She knew that their roles required them to work closely together, and there was no better time to meet than now. She was quite eager to get to meet him, but still tired from overseeing refits all day, though her stunningly beautiful face wouldn't show it.
After acknowledging Alex's request to meet her in her office, Chris had his replacement take over even though he wasn't really busy except for a diagnostic on his console. Chris made his way to Main Engineering, lost in thought as to what had transpired lately. He was the highest ranking officer left alive from his previous ship, so Star Fleet went after him to blame for what had happened on Solana 2. He figured they took into account that he did get the survivors out. That must have been why he only lost one rank and not worse. After all he was ordered to pilot the ship into the neutral zone. He was just following orders.
Chris found himself at the door to Main Engineering and stepped in looking for the Chief's Office. The door was open, so he stuck his head inside and knock on the wall, "Lieutenant Adeyemon?"
She stood with a smile, adjusting her uniform skirt variant. "Lieutenant Brooks? Welcome to Engineering!"
Chris step through the door to her office and extended his hand to Alex, "Thank you, call me Chris, please."
She shook his hand, noticing his firm grip. She couldn't match it, and honestly it hurt just a little. "It's nice to meet you, Chris. You can call me Alex." She continued with her stunning smile.
Chris didn't realize he squeezed her hand till she began to pull away. His attention was stuck on her beautiful face. "I'm sorry about that. I don't know my own strength sometimes. It's nice to meet you too, Alex. How may I be of service with out hurting your hand." Chris flashed a quick smile trying to hide his slightly red hue from his embarrassment.
She giggled, as she often did. "You're strong. That's always a good thing. I just thought, since you're our new Chief of Flight Operations, we should get to know one another."
"Sure, that would be great. Would you like to talk over dinner or did you have something else in mind?" Chris asked.
She thought about it, then remembered his profile. "You play piano, no?
"I do some, How did you know? I just got here early this morning." Chris looked at her slightly puzzled. Had she been checking his Star Fleet file before he even arrived on the ship? Didn't really matter, there was nothing wrong with that, it was public knowledge. And it doesn't if you want to make friends to see if you have anything in common before you meet. Chris flashed another quick smile with more shades of red. "What did you have in mind?"
"We could go to the holodeck and play a few songs. You could play piano, if you're good at sight reading, And I could play violin...or flute...or guitar...or another piano." She smiled again. "I guess it's very clear what I did my entire childhood..one music lesson to another, one orchestra to another, one sport to another. Barely had time to think actually...." She shook herself out of her thought. "How does it sound?"
"I'm sorry. It sounds like you had a very busy childhood. Did you enjoy the music or was it forced on you? I hope you don't mind me asking. It just almost sounded that you didn't want it or it was overwhelming. If you want to we can or do what ever you like. Doesn't have to be music. I'm flexible." Chris said as he watched her face for a response.
"I love music...I always have. There's nothing I'd would have rather been doing with my time than learning how to play any instrument I wanted. How about dinner, then music?"
Chris smiled. "That sounds perfect, I'm starving."
She smiled brightly, then turned back toward her desk, her shapely hips swaying as she walked. She looked at the stack of PADDs still there and pouted to herself. It was early in the afternoon, and there was so much work to be done. "Great...what time?"
Chris saw the stack of PADDs that she eye quickly, "As soon as we are done here.....that is, if you would like some help? I certainly don't mind." Chris flashed a quick smile.
"You can if you'd like, but you don't have to. I've got an entire department to get work done." She said, throwing the PADDs on the desk and motioning for him to follow her into Main Engineering.
As soon as they'd exited the room, an Ensign approached her. She handed Alex another PADD, much to her annoyance. Alex skimmed through it.
"It's the warp nacelle diagnostic." The woman said.
Alex nodded. "How are the warp nacelles going?"
The Ensign raised an eyebrow. "They're in perfect condition, ma'am."
"Good." Alex said, shoving the PADD back into her hand. "Next time just tell me. I've got enough paperwork, and I'm sure you do to." She smiled to the woman.
Chris followed Alex into Main Engineering. He watched the fluid movements of her hips which could not be ignored. He just hoped it wasn't obvious. he tried to take his eye off of her and look around Engineering.
Alex turned around and looked the Lieutenant in the eyes. "six o'clock, holodeck 2. Don't be late. I may like to joke around and all that but I'm a stickler for punctuation. Or, to say it musically, tempo tempo tempo!"
Chris smiled as she almost turned around too quick for him. "I will bring the dinner. if it's okay with you?"
"It is. See you then, Lieutenant." She would have called him by his first name, but they were no longer in private, and she didn't know what it would look like.
Chris couldn't help but smile again. "Excellent Lieutenant I will be there." Chris turned and departed Engineering.
