Alex stood on the opposite side of the warp core than the pool table was on, and looked at the cloaking device which had just been installed. On her last posting as Chief Engineer on the USS Paladin, she'd had to get the new device up and running in a battle situation, and had even figured out a way that they could either fire while cloaked, raise shields while cloaked, or go to warp while cloaked.

She'd become very familiar with the cloaking device, and did what hundreds of Engineers before her couldn't do..so naturally, she was disappointed that a promotion didn't come with her new assignment. Nevertheless, she was going to do her best on this ship. She would begin by making the same modifications to this cloaking device...that task would be much easier if there weren't five Engineers in her way.

"The device is now online, Lieutenant." Her Assistant Chief, Ensign Soto announced.

The man was quite tall and was leaning in front of her. His graying hair was blocking her view of the console.

"David...would you mind moving your head?" She asked him, every sign of a cheerful attitude in her voice.

"My apologies, ma'am...."

As soon as he'd moved, she'd checked the system, and made a note in her PADD. The schematics and designs would be sent to the First Officer and Captain. In the near or distant future, this device could be the difference between life and death for the Orion's crew, just like it was for the Paladin's.
