[USS Calypso - Sensor Array]
James made his way down to the sensor array control after his brief meeting with Morgan. He was going to ask Morgan if there was anything that he could do to help them, but he didn't have to do that. She assigned him to help Samantha with the sensor array. He wanted to be involved in search for the Commander. He had made a fool of himself on several occasions in front of her but she was nothing but nice to him.
He had half expected her to throw him off the ship at one point but she didn't. James walked into the sensor array control. He didn't see Chief Gates at first. "Chief Gates you in here?"
"Yes, over here."
The voice came from around the corner. James followed it around the corner. There was Chief Gates laying flat on her back, half of her body was under a consoles. She was working on something. James walked over next to her and kneeled by her. "How's it going...?"
Gates went to move out and sit up but she didn't clear it out completely so when she went to sit up she hit her head. "Damn it!"
"Are you alright?" James asked as he watched the woman fight her way out from under the console.
She rubbed the spot where she hit herself and then checked her hand for any blood. There wasn't anything which was always good. She looked at James. "Yeah, I'm fine."
"I'm glad..." James visually checked to make sure that she was alright like she said she was. He extended his hand out and she grabbed it. He helped her up and smiled.
"Thanks." Gates said as she returned the smile and turned to the console on which she had just been working. "So, what can I do for you?"
"Actually, the better question is what can I do for you?" James responded.
Gates turned around looking at him. "I'm not sure that this is the time for that." She said with a grin and turned her attention to her work.
It took James a few moments to realize what she was getting at than she chuckled. "I didn't mean it like that. Lieutenant Faye sent him down here to see if there is anything I can do to help you with the sensor array." He made sure to say 'sensor array' he didn't want her thinking anything else but that.
"I see, shame really." Gates said with a grin. She had heard about James and how he was somewhat of a ladies' man so she couldn't help herself but act the way she was. She wanted to see if she could make him feel uncomfortable.
James was totally thrown off by the actions of this woman. He walked over to her and the console and looked down at what she was working on.
"We need to be able to detect the Betazoid life signs from the planet but there are areas that are shielded by either the nature itself or the people living in that area. We need to be able to get through those shields." Gates explained.
"I have experienced a bit of trouble with the transporters in certain areas as well. I had to make some readjustments to get a lock on the coordinates." James explained.
"Mind showing me what you did?" Gates asked as she turned to face James. They stood inches apart from each other. She smiled at him.
James swallowed hard and nodded. "Uh...yeah....of course...." He turned to the console.
Gates chuckled to herself as she turned to the console as well to see what he was doing. She was going to enjoy working with James. She could see he was already feeling rather uncomfortable with her openness and her flirting with him.
