"Faye to Lieutenant Tovan..."
Morgan had received the reports from Sakura. It wasn't looking good. They hadn't been able to detect any transmission coming from the Coalition, and what they were able to get from the Alliance and Union didn't tell them much. No one had taken claim for the kidnapping yet, but there seemed to be some blame being passed onto the Alliance.
"Go ahead Lieutenant..."
The male voice of Delon responded from the other line. Morgan leaned back in her seat and picked up a PADD from the desk in front of her. She sighed looking at the information being displayed. It wasn't good news. She hated to give bad news. She had hoped that they would be able to report some type of progress by now.
"We haven't had much luck picking up any type of transmission that might be of use. Neither side seems to be risky discussing the kidnapping over the channels. And the strange part of it all is that the Coalition has gone to complete silence. It's as if they aren't even there."
"Intriguing..." Delon responded. It has a short respond but the single word said a lot more than anything else that he might and could have been able to come up with.
"I agree. The stranger part about it is that while they have gone into a communication silence they have managed to mobilize their military. We are still not clear on what their target is but it seems that they plan on doing something about the Grand Marshal being kidnapped."
"If we are able to get this information from our sensors and communications tracking, Alliance by now has to have the same information and is most likely doing the same as the Coalition. They must be mobilizing their military as well."
There was a brief smile that light up Morgan's face. "Indeed they are. It seemed that as soon as they received the information about the Coalition, they began mobilizing their own military. However, they aren't as secretive as the Coalition; they send the order over the open channels. Their orders are not mobilizing and are ready in case of a attack but they are not to do anything to provoke the Coalition, nor are they to attack first."
"Of course they would send it over the open channels. They know that the Coalition is listening on their transmissions just like we are. They want them and us to know what they intend on doing."
"That makes sense to me, but why don't they just contact the Coalition and tell them that they don't have the Grand Marshal, that would be easier. They could put aside their difference and search together."
Delon nodded lightly to himself. "It's not as easy as it sounds, Lieutenant. There have been many years of mistrust between the two sides. For years they wanted to kill each other. The truth is that the Coalition wouldn't believe them even if they came out and said it. It makes it worse that the kidnappers only took Grand Marshal and Commander, and left Alliance and Union leaders alone. If all four have been taken it might be a different story."
"So, I take it you don't believe that the Alliance has the Grand Marshal and the Commander..."
"Not for a moment. I believe that the Union might be involved in the kidnapping along with a third party, but I don't have any evidence of that."
"Ah! So, you have a feeling that the Union is behind it."
"You can call it that if you would like, but it would make sense for them to be behind it. The Coalition would not take their leader. It's not their style from what I have gathered. The attackers wanted to make it like that the Alliance is behind it, but that just makes it a little bit too obvious. And then you have the Union which wants to play the innocent party in all this."
"Looks like you are onto something there Sherlock Holmes."
"Indeed I am Watson"
Morgan couldn't help but laugh at the responses. It was nice to see that Delon knew her reference she would have felt a little bit silly if she had to explain it to him.
"I am going to check something. Keep in regular communication."
"We will. Just be careful."
"Tovan out..."
Morgan placed the PADD back onto the desk and sighed. This ship was going to turn her hair gray way before her time if this continued. She chuckled. At least there was never a dual moment.
