[USS Calypso - Sickbay]
Samantha gently turned in the bed. Her eyes slowly started to open. First a little bit but as her eyes began to adjust to the light in the room they opened wider until they were fully opened. She was greeted by the ceiling and the lights of the room. She gently turned her head from one side to the other. She was greeted by image of other empty sickbay beds. She started to lift her head off the pillow but felt slightly light headed so she laid her head down to regain her composure.
After a few moments had passed Samantha tried to lift her head off the pillow again, this time she was successful as she rose up and sat in the bed. She examined the room and didn't see anyone. She wasn't sure just how long she had been laying there in bed. Or even what was wrong with her but she needed to get up every muscle in her body felt very sore as if she had been lying in bed for days.
A nurse came from around the corner and noticed Samantha. She smiled as she walked over to her holding a PADD in her hand. "It's nice to see you awake and well."
Samantha was surprised at first as the voice came from behind her. She turned her head and nodded lightly returning the smile. She watched as the nurse came around the bed and in front of her. "Yes, I'm feeling better...I think..." She gently closed her eyes moving her head in a circular motion before stopping and looking at the nurse. "What happened to me anyway?"
"It was a very nasty flu however we managed to find an antidote and you have been cleared to be released from sickbay as soon as you woke up." The nurse placed the PADD on the bed and grabbed a tricoder. She took a very quick scan of Samantha and everything seemed to be in order. "The doctor wants you to take another 24 hours of house rest than check back in here to make sure that you are clear for duty."
Samantha nodded as she listened to what the nurse had to say. Normally she might have fought having to stay in her quarters for a period of 24 hours but she felt like she was going to need it. She wasn't sick any longer but she felt much drained physically. "Don't worry; I don't plan on lifting a finger until being given the okay to return to work."
"Good. It was a nasty flu so drink lots of fluids and make sure to eat properly and you will be back on your feet in no time." The nurse added. "Well, you can go now. If anything comes up you know where to reach us."
Samantha nodded. "I know. Thank you." She looked at the floor. For a moment she wasn't sure if she would be able to stand once her feet touched the ground but soon enough she hopped off the bed and landed on the floor. She found it like it was riding a bike, once she was on the ground she felt good and walked to the door. She turned around to face the nurse one more time and smiled at her before stepping out and heading down the corridor.
She probably should go to Operations HQ and let them know what was going on but she was sure that the sickbay crew would inform her superiors. She pushed the thought of work out of her mind and headed for the lift. She might have been in bed for a few days now but she felt like all she wanted to do was lay down in her own bed and go to sleep.
As she entered the lift she smiled to herself having figured out what was going to be the first order of business once she reached her quarters. She was going to have a nice long relaxing bath.
