[USS Calypso - Sickbay]
Aaron had left his shift at the appointed time and headed down to sickbay. It was a place that he avoided as much as he could but this time around he wasn't heading down because there was something wrong with him but because he wanted to check up on how Samantha was doing. She had fallen ill earlier while they were working together and he was worried about her. The doors opened to sickbay and he stepped inside. He didn't notice anyone around so he headed over to where Sam was laying down.
When he approached her he noted that her eyes were closed. She looked very peaceful in her sleep. He stopped by her bed and looked down at her. It seemed to him like she was doing a lot better. It was then that he noticed someone from the corner of his eye. He looked up to see who it was.
"Can I help you?" Leanne asked as she approached the man leaning near her patient's bed.
Aaron looked over to the doctor. "I am just checking up on Chief Gates here." Aaron looked down at Sam. "I am the one that actually brought her into sickbay."
"Oh, that's right...I have forgotten," she said as she slightly yawned. She glanced at her tricorder, "She has been sedated and will be discharged tomorrow." Leanne rubbed her temples, feeling a small headache coming.
Aaron watched her female doctor. He noted how tired she looked. "You look very tired doctor." Aaron said while looking back to Sam. He was glad to hear the good news.
"Just a long shift, I guess," she said. "I'm waiting for Doctor Hart to get back before I can sit down with a break." Leanne didn't want to throw her problems on someone, so she just kept it short and sweet as it is just her problem to deal with. I'll just take some anagelsics to get rid of the headache and a cup of tea would be good.
Aaron nodded gently. He knew how the long shifts worked. He had pulled more than a few of them in his time in Starfleet. They were never fun, but sometimes they couldn't be avoided. "I understand how you feel doctor. Just make sure that you get plenty of rest when you get a chance." He chuckled lightly. "I believe that would be your line."
Doctor Bowen gave a smirk, "That's true." She closed the tricorder and placed it on a nearby tray, "I better get me another cup of tea out of my office. Would you like something to drink?"
"Tea sounds rather nice. What kind of tea do you drink?" Aaron had turned his full attention to the doctor now. He had come in to check up on Sam and he did that. And he also didn't want to be rude towards the doctor.
"I normally drink Earl Grey, but I usually drink this special tea called, Hazo. It has honey and a few herbs that helps boost some energy up. What kind do you usually drink?" She asked as she walked into her office towards the replicator.
"Hazo huh...?" Aaron followed her inside her office. "I think I will give that a try." He said as he leaned on the door way. "I usually like green mint tea. I enjoy the smell of it."
"Do you want green mint tea instead?" She waited at the replicator.
Aaron shook his head. "No, I want to try the Hazo tea you were speaking of earlier."
"Okay," she turned to face the replicator. "Two Hazo tea...hot."
After two mugs appeared, she grasped them by the handles and walked over to him. "Here it is," Leanne said as she handed him the cup. "Have a seat," she said as she went over to her desk and sat down in her chair. She let out a sigh and took a sip.
Aaron watched the doctor as she grabbed the mugs, when she offered him one he grabbed it from her being careful not to burn himself as he took a seat across from her. He smelled the tea and smiled. "Let's hope it tastes as good as it smells."
She gave him a tired smile across the desk. "I only recommend this drink when patient's immune system is low where it has trouble fighting the germs," she kept the conversation at layman's term instead of speaking medically. "But, it does helps anybody keep their immune system strong. The herb, mint in what you drink, comes from peppermint and it is good for nausea. I have studied herbology which isn't required with a medical degree..."
Aaron had taken another sip of the tea while the doctor talked. He nodded every so often to acknowledge that he was listening to what she had to say. "That's excellent that you did. I have learned in my time in Starfleet that just because something isn't required for a degree that it doesn't mean that it can't be helpful." Aaron took another sip of the tea and smiled at the doctor. "I hope this isn't too forward, but would you like to grab something to eat once you can leave sickbay...I'm kind of hungry myself and I have found that dinner with company is a lot more enjoyable than eating alone."
"I don't mean to talk on and on...just don't have someone to talk to at the moment," she took a sip. "Sure, I would like to get a bite...," said with some excitement in her voice.
Aaron smiled at the doctor. "No worries doctor, we all get to that point. And it's either we find a friend or we are forced to visit the counselor. I must say I prefer a friend." Aaron took another sip of the team. "I was hoping you'd say yes."
She returned the smile and felt that having his company has lifted her spirit, making her feel much better than being a little depressed. Or, maybe the tea did the job. At first, she didn't realize that she was feeling down. "Of course...I say yes."
Aaron watched her. She looked like she needed to get away from sickbay for a while. He was hopeful that dinner would at least help her get away for a bit. Plus he was hungry and he figured she would be too. He looked around a little bit. "So when does this doctor of yours come to work...?"
Leanne stood up. "He is off-duty. I can get my nurse to take over and if any emergency arises, she can call me."
Aaron looked at the doctor. "Are you sure that is going to be alright, I would hate to get you in trouble." Aaron smiled at her knowing full well that she was in charge of sickbay, but it was still a nice gesture he figured.
Seeing that he is being a true gentleman, she smiled at him when he sounded more concerned. "As long as there is somebody here...no worries." She walked around her desk and put her hand on his upper arm, giving him a short pat to show that everything is okay. "Let's go get something to eat...I need to keep my energy up."
"Well, as long as it's okay with your boss." Aaron said with a wink and a smile as he placed the mug back on the desk. He stood up from the chair and turned to face Leanne. "Yes, let's go eat. I wouldn't want you to pass out now."
She shook her head as she walked out of her office. Leanne talked to one of her nurses to explain where she was going and that she will be back. She approached Aaron standing by the sickbay entrance doors, waiting on her to join him. This is just a friendly dinner, she remind herself.
