Lift Recovery Brief with Shalie and Allison

Allison took one deep breath, she held it for a moment than exhaled. She stepped into engineering with her head held up high. She was ready to meet this new challenge that Tovan and Morgan had set for her. She walked in deeper noticing every little detail of the room. No one seemed to pay much attention to her wondering around. They were all busy with various tasks. She noticed the green woman standing behind a console. That must be the Chief. She approached her. "Excuse me ma'am. I'm Ensign Allison Owen reporting as ordered."

Shalie looked up from the console she was working at to see the Ensign standing in front of her. "Ah yes...Miss Owen" She said simply, knowing the women wouldn't understand the reference. "I am glad to see that someone in Operations was willing to help out in our little joint venture...were you briefed on what you will be doing?"

"I don't think I had much of a choice ma'am." Allison smiled at Shalie. "I am glad that I was chosen for this assignment. It will be nice to do something different for a change and no I haven't been briefed."

"Well then...in that case I will start with the summary of the project." Shalie started as she moved around the console she was working on and leaned against it. "There was a problem with the lift system to other evening leaving one of the lift pods abandoned in the lower decks of the ship...You and the others are to retrieve the pod and run a full system diagnostic to find out the source of the problem and come up with a few safe guards against it in the future...I am not sure if the next time the passengers will be so lucky."

Allison nodded gently. She had heard about the incident that took place. It was indeed a good thing that they were able to stop it otherwise the lift would have collided with the bottom of the ship and been smashed into millions of pieces. "Understood. I assume that the rest of the team will be from Engineering..."

Shalie nodded. "Yes, the other two members of the team will be from Engineering." She paused as she turned to retrieve a padd from the console. "It looks like Petty Officer Gracy and Ensign Matthews have been assigned to this project as well." she looked over the names on the PADD trying to remember which ones they were. She was still in the process of getting to know her team. "If they give you any problems...just let me know."

"Petty Officer Gracy and Ensign Matthews." Allison repeated the names as the Chief of Engineering told her. She wanted to make sure that she didn't forget them, now that would be completely embarrassing. "Don't worry, I'm sure I can handle them." Allison said with a wink and a smile.

"Good Good" Shalie said with a nod and a smile. "Then I won't keep you...Please feel free to let me know if you need anything." She was hoping this would work, it was easy to have faith in the members of her team as well as that of Operations. Having faith in their ability to cooperate was a completely different matter.

Allison nodded. She was very eager to get down to the lift pod and begin her work. She felt at ease when she had her mind and hands occupied. "We will keep you updated on the recovery." Allison smiled and nodded to Shalie than turned around and left for her assignment.
