"Alright... I guess I shouldn't keep you here any longer...Good luck." David led Ghost over to a door and opened it for him. "Just follow this corridor down; it will lead you to the weapon."

Ghost nodded to David and stepped into the corridor. The door shut behind him and he took a deep breath. He took his weapon out and started on his way down towards the end of the corridor."

And now Winter Fortress, Part VII

Ghost continued down the long corridor. It was like David had said; there weren't any resistance of any sort. He did notice that this way only was available through the lab which David occupied and with the number of guards there were on the other side no one should have been able to sneak in her without alerting someone. Ghost found himself lucky in the sense that the Ninja had appeared. He took care of the guards. But he was also wondering who send him, and why was it his old mentor?

There would be a time to find these answers later for now he had a mission he needed to focus on, so he tightened his grip on the gun as he got closer to the end of the corridor. He assumed that there would be guards at least there. But before he could reach the end he heard a voice in his head. It was April.

"Ghost, they have activated the weapon and set the counter down for 30 minutes, they are not going to wait for it to reach the deadline. They know that Washington won't give them what they want so their will destroy it. Please hurry."

"I'm almost there. However, I'm finding it strange that there are no guards in the area." Ghost responded to April. However, no answer came back. He shrugged his shoulders and continued on.

So, Ghost reached the door. He grabbed the door knob and turned it opening it slowly. When he opened the door what he saw was something like out of a movie. It was a huge robot. It had two legs, two arms, torso, chest, and even a head. He stood there speechless looking at this robot. It was impressive and any other day he would have loved to jump into the cockpit and take it out for a spin but this thing was still very dangerous. He needed to take care of it.

Ghost stepped out and looked down each way. There were no guards anywhere. He noticed the control room to the north of him so he turned his attention for there. A surprising thing was that even the cameras had been taken off line.

When he reached the bottom of the stairs he took another moment to take a look at this rather impressive looking weapon before heading up the stairs. He walked into the control room. There were computers and screens everywhere. And at the central panel there were three laptops hooked to what seemed like key insertion device. Each was labeled with a color.

He looked at the card and noticed that it was just gray, so he walked over to the gray device and put the card in. It read it and stated that it was waiting for the other card. The control room was warmer than the hanger where the robot was stored, so Ghost stepped out and found a very cold surface and pressed the card on it. It took close to five minutes before it turned blue. So he rushed in and inserted it. Like before it told him that it was waiting for the next one.

Now came the hard part it was his turn to warm the card. Body heat would not work as it was room temperature. So he grabbed some paper and lucky enough for him he found some matches. He ran out and found a corner. He was about to start a fire in the hanger. A little one so he hoped than the smoke wouldn't give him away. He spends at least another ten minutes warming the card up. When it turned red he ran in and inserted it.

"All three cards have been registered. The weapon is active now." The computer voice echoed through the room. Ghost looked with a puzzled and furious look on his face. He had been set up once again. "Damn it!"

There was clapping in the background, and then it got closer. "Thank you, Ghost. We couldn't have activated it without you." Gene said as he stepped into the control room. Ghost pointed his weapon at Gene. "I wouldn't do that. If you do, she dies." Gene said as he pointed out the window. There was David Campbell holding April with a gun pointed to her head.

Ghost lowered his gun to the ground but didn't say anything. He watched as Gene walked closer to the controls. "Now, to input the correct coordinates and watched the show." Gene began to type into the targeting computer.

Ghost looked out the window to April who was being held by David. They began to struggle. And before either Ghost or Gene knew it, they went over the railing. Gene looked over to Ghost and laughed. "Looks like one less person I have to share with."

Ghost was furious at this point by what was happening, but Gene was distracted by the computer that he didn't notice when April climbed back over the ledge and made her way to the stairs. She stood by the door as Gene input the coordinates. Just as Gene had finished she had managed to come up behind him and kick him in the side of the head.

Gene completely caught off guard fell down to the ground. Ghost moved over and pointed his weapon at Gene. April ran to the computer.

"Can you stop it?" Ghost asked as he took his attention off Gene for a moment and that was all he needed. He had got up off the ground and rushed out the door before either April or Ghost knew what was happening.

"I think I can manage." April had responded.

"Crap! He is getting away." Ghost said as he rushed for the door.

"You go ahead, stop him. I got this."

"Are you sure?" Ghost had stopped by the door and turned to see her. She nodded to him and he returned the nod and then headed out the door.

"Come on girl, you can do this." April said to herself as she turned her attention back to the targeting computer.

Ghost had run down the stairs and was heading down the long corridor to catch up to Gene who had at least 200 feet on him. Ghost opened fire at Gene but that didn't seem to stop him at all. He just kept on running. Ghost threw his weapon to the side and picked up his pace now that he was lighter.
