"Good luck. I will contact you if I have any further information. We should keep our communications to a minimum as they might be able to intercept them "Understood...I'll let you know when I reach the designer." Ghost said. He once again poked his head out looking around to make sure that there wasn't anyone around. Once the coast was clear he jumped out of the truck hugging the wall he started on his way down towards the other building.
"Be careful, Ghost..." April said before cutting transmission.
And now Winter Fortress, Part V
Ghost continued down the tunnel. He kept replaying everything that April had said about the new weapon system that was capable of launching nuclear missile from anywhere in the world. It was a walking tank. At least that's how she described it. He wasn't told any of this during the briefing he received prior to coming on this mission. He was sure that Washington knew about this and simply didn't tell him as it was top secret. He started to wonder what else they could be hiding from him. What else wasn't he told about this place?
However, none of that was important at the moment. He had a mission to complete and he was going to do his best to complete this mission. He knew very well what would happen if he was too late to stop them. This island and everything around it would simply vanish. He couldn't let that happen. As he sneaked down the tunnel he heard footsteps and talking. He ducked into a dark corner.
As the footsteps approached closer he could hear that they were having a conversation about something. He listened carefully.
"There is an intruder here. So we better check everything." One of the voices said. Ghost raised an eye brow, were they talking about him? It had to be, he wasn't aware of anyone else sneaking around here.
"He's already killed seven people." That same voice added. Now that didn't sound like Ghost at all. He tried to take a quick count of everyone that he had a run into and no way did it add up to seven guards.
"Yeah, I heard that he was wearing some type of a ninja suit and had a sword." The other voice said. Now, ghost knew that they were not talking about him. It couldn't be him. He didn't have a sword for one, nor had he killed the amount of people they were discussing. It had to be someone else. Did Washington send in someone else as well?
The guards continued their conversation and headed past him. Nothing else was of any interest so when Ghost saw an opening he took it and moved down the tunnel again. He had walked about half a mile before coming to another lift. It was just like the other place. There wasn't anyone here either guarding it. He found that rather surprising, but he moved to the lift and called it.
The lift door opened and Ghost stepped inside. He remembered that she said level three so he headed up to the level. The short ride came to an end and the doors opened. He was greeted by a scene that would only be seen in a horror movie. It was a long corridor and all the way along it were dead bodies. They appeared to have been cut by a sword. He could hear some type of noise in the distance.
He lifted his gun up and headed down the corridor slowly. He checked each body as he made his way down. They were still warm. It must have happened recently. Then there was a noise of a door opening and closing. He rushed to the corner and poked his head around it. He saw more dead bodies and the door completely covered in blood. There was someone else here that was for sure.
Ghost ran up to the door and it opened. He stepped inside. There it was just like the two guards outside described it. A guy dressed in a ninja outfit carrying a sword. He turned around to face Ghost. Ghost had his weapon trained on him.
"So, they did send you in here." The man behind the ninja mask said. There was a chuckle that could be heard. "I'm very happy about this."
"Who are you?" Ghost asked. He didn't know this person, at least from what he could tell anyways. Maybe if the person removed the mask he might be able to tell.
"Nor a friend or foe..."
"What are you talking about?" Ghost continued to have his weapon trained on this ninja looking guy. He didn't know him. But he would fight him if the ninja decided to head in that direction.
"Brace yourself Ghost; I'm going to kill you." Ninja said. That was followed by some impressive moves with the sword and then he rushed at him. Ghost dodged the first attack but barely. When Ghost turned around to aim at the Ninja he was already gone form that spot. He looked around trying to find him and at the last moment caught glimpse of a sword coming towards him.
Ghost used his weapon to push it away then kicked the Ninja. The ninja fell back a little but quickly caught himself and launched for another attack. By this time Ghost had his weapon trained and opened fire at the Ninja. The suit must have been bullet proof because the Ninja took a barrage of bullets and it didn't seem to stop him. He slashed at Ghost. Ghost jumped back at the last minute and he cut his weapon in half.
Ghost ran around to the other side of the room. He pulled out a pistol from his side and started to move around slowly looking for the ninja. He caught glimpse of him coming down at him from the top. He blocked his initial attack but the force brought them both down to the ground. The two of them struggled for a little bit on the ground until Ghost ended up on top. He had managed to pull a knife out from the side and stabbed at the Ninja. He over powered him and stabbed him in the side of the neck.
Ghost rolled off the Ninja trying to catch his breath. After he did he stood up and looked over to a locker from which he had heard whimpering before. "You can come out now."
"Is it safe...?" The voice from inside asked.
"More or less..." Ghost responded as he turned his attention over to the Ninja. He took a knee in front of him pulling the knife out of the side of the neck and then grabbed onto the side of the mask and pulled it off. He was surprised by what he saw. It was his old mentor that was under the mask.
