Tovan leaned forward turning off his monitor. He then leaned back in his chair and rubbed his eyes slightly. His eyes were starting to bother him because he had been staring at the same screen for what it seemed to be hours. He got up from his chair and headed to the replicator. He grabbed a cup of coffee and as he turned around he noticed that Morgan was in the other room working on something behind a console. He needed a distraction so he headed out of his office and over to Morgan.
Morgan looked up from the console as she heard footsteps approaching her. She noticed Tovan than noticed that cup of steamy coffee in his hand. She smiled at him as he got closer to her. "Long day...?"
Tovan looked to his cup of coffee than back to Morgan and nodded. "You could say that. I have spent the last few hours learning about the people on Turkana IV. I started off with the early colonization of the planet to the current day." Tovan explained as he brought the cup of coffee up to his lips and took a sip.
"That sounds like fun..." Morgan said. She honestly never enjoyed doing research in such ways. She more enjoyed just sitting down and learning about the people through conversations with them but everyone had their own methods.
Tovan chuckled at her words than took another sip of his coffee. He took a seat in a chair located at the console nearby and looked at her. "So, I was wondering if you've had a chance to meet with the doctor about Ms. Gates."
Morgan turned in the chair and face Tovan. She nodded gently. "I actually just got a report in from sickbay. It seems that Ms. Gates has contracted some type of flu, the sickbay staff is working on it. The sympathies seem to be the same as a regular flu but it's not." Morgan shrugged her shoulders frustrated. "I honestly don't know more than that. It's all rather confusing. This is why I went into operations and not the medical field."
Tovan nodded. "I understand how you feel. I seem to get along better with computers and engines than I do with people and curing them." He took another sip of the coffee. "Well, the only thing we can do is sit back and wait for the medical department to take care of the problem."
Morgan nodded. "I have removed her from active roster until we get the okay from the medical that she is good to return to work. I have also met with all the sub-department heads and everything is in order. The Quartermaster is a really interesting guy. Did you know that he has a monkey?'
Tovan raised an eye brow with a puzzled look on his face. "A monkey? No." He had met the Quartermaster, the man seemed to be nice enough but he hadn't stopped by his office nor was he aware that he had a monkey as a pet.
"Oh yeah! A real nice monkey at that. You should stop by sometime and see him." Morgan said with a smile on her face thinking back on the meeting with Apu.
"I might do that. What about Mr. Munro? Is he behaving?" Tovan asked as he looked down inside his coffee cup. He had already finished more than half.
Morgan leaned back and let out a sigh. She wasn't sure if she should tell him what James had almost done with the Commander. It could get him trouble, but she also figured if she didn't tell him and he heard it from someone else it might look bad.
Tovan looked up and at Morgan. He could tell by her expression that something was up. "That bad...?"
Morgan nodded. She started off by telling him how James met Sam in the transporter room while she was in her civilian clothing. The story continued on as she told him about how he went chasing after her and almost asked her out when another man came up and James didn't do it. She also told him how James had no idea that it was the Commander and how when he found out her started to freak out. The situation could have turned into a mess but lucky enough it didn't get that far.
Tovan sat there listening to everything Morgan had to say about the situation and for the first few moments he couldn't really say anything. He didn't know what to say. He just shook his head.
Morgan noticed his reaction and couldn't help but laugh. It was exactly how she wanted to react to the whole situation. "That is pretty much how I reacted as well. Allison was there with me when he came back. It was pretty interesting."
"So, do we need to keep a closer eye on him?" Tovan asked.
Morgan shook her head. "I doubt it sir, he is harmless really."
Tovan nodded. "Alright." He stood up from his seat. "Well, don't let me keep you away from your work any longer." He nodded to her and headed to his office.
Morgan smiled and nodded back to him returning to work. She was taking a bit of a risk with James here but she knew that he wouldn't do anything too stupid. At least she hoped that he wouldn't. It could be trouble for both of them. She sighed and returned to what she was doing.
