Mission:
Peace, or Something Like It
Location: Quarters of Shalie Montgomery
Timeline: Current
Shalie stepped out of her private bathroom, wrapped only in a towel. She couldn't seem to wipe the smile off her face as she moved though her bedroom to her closet. She walked past the bed she didn't have to share, unless she wanted to that is, and opened the door to the closet that was all hers. No more having to worry about which drawer was hers and which side she would have to keep her belongings on.
After picking a simple black top and knee length skirt she quickly dressed. She simply ran a brush though her hair before heading back out to her living room. My living room Shalie couldn't help but think to herself as she moved though the room. She had about 10 minutes at this point before Delon should arrive and she still had to decide what to make for dinner.
Tovan made sure that he left his office on time this evening. He was looking forward to the away mission the next day; it would give him a chance to learn more about the people of the world. He still wasn't sure why an operations officer was tagging along to a diplomatic mission but he didn't think too much about it. He took it for what it was worth.
After a quick shower he threw on a pair of jeans and a black plain t shirt. It was casual wear after all. He grabbed a bottle from his private collection and headed out. Now that she was a Chief she was on the same deck as him so he walked down to her quarters and chimed the door.
Shalie was just placing the last of first course on the table when she heard the chime sound out. "Come in" She called happily as she returned to the replicator for two more glasses. She heard the doors hiss open as she contentedly hummed to herself.
As the doors opened Tovan walked inside looking around. He took in her quarters then finally made his way over to her. He noticed what she was wearing. He couldn't help but admire her choice of outfit. "These look great." He said with a soft tone as he stepped in closer to her. "I feel honored that I am your first guest in your new quarters." The more time Tovan spend around her the more comfortable and open he became.
Shalie set the two glasses on her table before she turned towards him wrapping her arms around his neck. She looked up at him before she spoke. "Well you should." She stretched up towards him and gave him a soft kiss before moving away. "Besides you are the only person I know." She looked over her shoulder giving him a playful wink.
Tovan watched as she turned around and stepped into his arms. It was almost instant that his arms came up wrapping around her waist as he closed his eyes and returned the kiss. A smile showed on his face as she pulled back and then moved way his arms dropped back down to his side. "Oh, I see how it is." He smiled at her as he walked closer to the table putting down the bottle. It was Bajoran Spring Wine
"Please have a seat." Shalie said as she pulled out her own chair sinking down into it. "I hope you are hungry." She had decided to start their meal with a simple salad. It was full of fresh greens and brightly colored vegetables. She smiled up at him while she stole a sip from her water glass.
Tovan took a seat. He looked over the table at what she had prepared before looking up at her. "I actually am rather hungry; I decided to skip out on a snack because I was saving myself for tonight." He smiled at her. "No pressure right?" He grabbed his own glass and sipped it.
"Good" Shalie said with a smile. "It has been a while since I have eaten some where other then a lounge or mess hall...so we have salad, followed by beef stroganoff and something for desert that I haven't thought of yet." She finished with a laugh. "The wine will go great with whatever we come up with..." She pointed to the wine as she spoke.
"As long as there is whip cream with the dessert..." Tovan said as he placed the glass down giving her a grin and a wink before turning his attention to the plate in front of him. He grabbed his fork and decided do dig in.
Shalie rolled her eyes at Delon as she retrieved her fork. She took a bit of her salad and savored the crisp of the lettuce along with the sweetness of the peppers. She grew up with nothing but replicator food and had never understood why people complained about it as much as they did. She let out a contented sigh as she couldn't help but smile a she looked around her quarters.
Tovan had taken a few bites of lettuce and other vegetables before placing the fork down and taking a sip of his water. It was a habit he had developed since he was a child. He always drank a lot of water with his meals. It didn't matter what he was eating. After taking a sip he titled his head to the side watching her. She smiled to himself.
Shalie's eyes caught Delon's look as she cast him a playful glance. "What?" She said with a grin as she took another bite of her meal. She set her fork on the edge of her plate as she reached for her water. She kept her eyes on him as she set the glass back down. "Do I amuse you?"
Tovan couldn't help but laugh as she caught him looking at her. He eventually nodded lightly with a smile on his face. "Yes, you actually do. I don't believe I have ever seen anyone enjoy their new quarters as much as you are right now."
Shalie laughed. "Yeah well...I am betting you have had your own quarters for a while." She said with a shake of her head. "The best roommate I had was a female from California that seemed to think we were best friends...but she liked to refold my clothes constantly." She took another sip of her water. "The worst...I am still trying to forget." She finished with a slightly giggle.
"I stopped having to share my quarters a few years back, but I do remember those days of sharing the room. It was something that it took a while to get use to. I was the only child in my family so you can say I never learned to share." Tovan smiled at her as he picked up his fork and took another bite. "So, the best roommate was the one that refolded your clothes constantly, so the worst one must have washed your clothes constantly than."

"So, the best roommate was the one that refolded your clothes constantly, so the worst one must have washed your clothes constantly than. I can see how that can be a problem, especially if they kept shrinking it." Tovan had expected her to throw something at him now.
Shalie rolled her eyes at Delon's comment and resisted the urge to retaliate. "I was technically an only child, but I never had anything growing up. Including my own room...so this is the first time ever" She couldn't help but be a bit giddy at the statement. "I will get over it I promise." She said with a wink as she returned to her salad. It wasn't long before both plates were finished and she returned them to the replicator. She returned to the table with two more plates almost heaping with the entree.
Tovan resisted the urge to laugh as he knew he was already in trouble with her for the statement he had made. He continued to eat until the salad was gone. "I never really knew either of my parents; I grew up with my grandmother. She was a really nice and sweet lady." Tovan paused for a moment as he grabbed his glass and sipped a drink. "But she passed away, so now I really don't have anyone else. Starfleet is all I have in my life." Tovan looked to her. "Sorry, didn't mean to bore you with my sad tale."
Shalie rested her chin on the back of her hand as she listened to Delon speak with a mocking smile on her face. "Wow...If I had known you were this boring I wouldn't have invited you for dinner." She said sarcastically. With a laugh, she used her fork to pick up a bite of the hot meal before placing it in our mouth.
"Well, now you have been warned. Next time you consider hosting a dinner party make sure not to invite me." He smiled at her as he once again turned his attention to the food. Everything she had selected so far has been very delicious.
Shalie laughed as she took another bite of food followed by her drink. "I will keep that in mind." She said with a wink. She closed her eyes contentedly before looking down at her food. "God this is so good."
Tovan looked over at her and nodded. "It really is. Remind me to thank the replicator." He winked at her as he turned his attention down to the last few bites of his meal. When he finished it he leaned back and took a sip of his drink. "Thank you so much."
"Yep..." Shalie said with a laugh. "If I had cooked...we would both most likely be on our way to sickbay...So technically the replicators have saved your life tonight." She smiled as she finished what was left of her meal. She leaned back in her seat as she watched Delon for a moment. "Thank you for christening my quarters with me."
"Well, in that case it's a good thing you didn't cook." Tovan said with a wink as he got up from the table grabbing his plate and then hers when she finished it and taking them to the replicator. "And you are welcome. I'm glad you invited me over, plus you were the first person to come into my quarters outside of me."
Shalie stood up and gathered the remainder of the items on the table leaving only two glasses and the bottle that Delon had brought. She placed them in the replicator and looked up at Delon who was standing mere inches from her. Once the dishes had disappeared she smiled up at him easily sliding her arms around his neck, linking her hands on the other side. "Hmmm...I did have fun that night." She gently pressed her lips to his.
Once she had wrapped her arms around his neck his arms fell in place around her waist pulling her in closer to him. "You aren't the only one." He responded just before their lips met. The two of them shared a brief kiss before Tovan pulled away. "So, we should stop this...after all...you are a chief now, it wouldn't' be very appropriate." His lips were saying one thing and yet doing another. He had leaned in and gently started to kiss along her neck.
"Oh..." Shalie purred with a laugh as she leaned her head back allowing him more access. "So it was ok when I was just a nameless enlisted." She gently touched her fingertips to the back of his neck. "I was unaware of the difficulties I have made for you." She closed her eyes before turning her head slightly to nibble at his ear.
She had a point. But Tovan didn't let that stop him he kissed up to her ear and nibbled on it before whispering to her. "You were never nameless....I knew your name from the very start." A smile on his face as his hands got a little braver grabbing onto the skirt and began to hike it upwards.
Shalie let out a purr as she felt his hands on her waist. She used her fingers to easily guide his lips to hers. Pulling him closer to her. She broke the kiss briefly to whisper. "What about desert?" She asked before kissing him again.
Tovan had slowly opened his eyes half way to look at her as she broke the kiss. Her words make him smile but he didn't say anything in return. He simply kissed her back and continued to pull on her skirt. He was pretty sure that both of them knew what was up for desert. He slowly started to guide her over to the bedroom as they continued to kiss.
