[USS Calypso - Deck 10 - Corridor]

James left the lounge. He was in very high spirits. It bothered him a little bit that he couldn't remember the last name of the woman that he was trying to get a date with but he was sure it started with a Y, and how many other people on the ship could be named Samantha and have a last name that started with a Y.

James turned around the corridor heading for the nearest turbo lift, and as he did he noticed that same woman that was in the transporter room just stepping off the lift. She was dressed in her civilian clothing. She must be off duty, he thought to himself as she put on a smiling face and headed down the corridor towards her. "I didn't think I'd run into you again." He said as he got closer.

Sam had changed into a black dress to meet Damon. She paused when she saw James, recognizing the CPO from the transporter room. "Hi. How are you this evening?"

James couldn't help himself but look her over and nod. "Oh my, you look rather beautiful this evening." He said with a smile. "I am doing rather well. I was actually coming to find you."

"Is there a problem?" she asked. She wondered why he had he come to her instead of going to his Chief?

"No, there isn't a problem." James shook his head with a smile. "I just wanted to ask you something." James added, and it was just than when the doors to the lift opened and he noticed a man step out.

Damon stepped off the same turbolift that Samantha had taken only a few moments earlier. He had likewise changed out of his Marine fatigues in favor of something a little more appropriate for the evening.

He was fixing a stubborn cuff on his collared shirt when he came up behind Sam talking to someone. Not wanting to interrupt, he stood a few paces back and kept to himself.

James had noticed that the man that stepped of the lift had stopped and seemed to be waiting for Sam. He noticed the outfit that the man was wearing and then noticed what Sam was wearing and nodded lightly. Looks like he was too late, he smiled at her. "I guess we can do this another time. Looks like you've company is waiting for you." He took a few steps back. "Sorry to bother you. Have a good evening."

Sam was confused. She took a few steps forward and touched his arm. "No. You came looking for me for a reason. I'd like to know what it is."

James surprised that she came after him; he gently pulled his arms away from her. "It's not that important. " He smiled at her once again. "Duty calls, I'll talk to you later."

"Okay..." she said, even more confused. "If you're sure?"

James nodded. "I'm positive."

Sam nodded. He'd wanted something, but she wasn't going to press the point. If it were important, he'd tell her later. As she turned back her gaze met Damon's and she smiled. She kissed him on the cheek, happy to see him. "That was odd. He said he wanted to talk to me, then wouldn't tell me what he wanted."

Damon was also a bit confused by the exchange. "Was it something I did?"

"I don't think you did anything," she said, shrugging. She looked back in the direction of the CPO. "Odd." She turned back to Damon. "Maybe I'll go talk to him tomorrow. Tonight, however," she said, slipping her arm through Damon's, "I would like to focus on the most handsome man in the room."

Damon laughed. "Point him out to me, will you? Maybe he could offer me some tips."

Sam looked for James, but he was gone. "I don't see him. Besides," she said, grinning at Damon, "I don't feel like sharing you. Come on, love; our table should be ready. There's a new dessert I want to try later..."
