[USS Calypso - Deck 7 Section 11]
Morgan stepped into the lift. In her possession were at least ten different PADDs that each held a report on the readiness of sub departments within Operations. She needed to know where they were and what was left to be done. She was looking at another long day with a cup of coffee or two. The last order of business was to check in with the Quartermaster. She needed to know if all of the supplies they needed were aboard the vessel.
The lift stopped on Deck 7 Section 11 and Morgan stepped off. She headed down the corridor passing a few doors until she came to the right one. She chimmed the door and waited for whoever was inside to let her know it was okay for her to enter.
"Come in, the door is always open," a voice replied. The man spoke in a thick accent indicating he'd grown up in India on Earth.
The door opened and Morgan slowly stepped inside with a bit of a smile on her face. "Hello there, Master Chief."
Apu looked her up and down, taking a quick appraisal of the woman. "What can I do for you?" he asked.
"Well, I am here to find out if we have everything we need aboard the vessel before we leave." Morgan said as she stepped in deeper into the mans office.
"Well of course not," Apu said. "I won't know that until we get back from wherever it is we are going. However, I do have everything we are supposed to have. I even have a crate of hacky sack balls." He turned to his a monkey that was lounging in a hammock in the back corner of the room. "Get me one of the new balls, will you?"
The monkey chittered and swung down from the hammock onto a large crate and into the back room. He came back a minute later with a small leather ball. He tossed it to Apu and then swung back into his hammock.
Morgan had come to a quick conclusion that Apu was an interesting man to say the least. He seemed a bit odd but she didn't mind odd as long as odd got the job done and from what she had heard this man can get almost anything. She raised an eye brow as the monkey rose up from the hammock. "Is that a monkey...?"
"No, it's a duck in disguise. I paint him brown to confuise people," Apu replied, tongue-in-cheek.
"Mm-hmm." Morgan laughed at what the man had to say. "You know, that might have been a stupid question, but it has been such a long time since I have seen a monkey."
"Bobo, come say hi to the lady," Apu said. The monkey swung down and ran to the counter by the Lieutenant. He cocked his head, chittered at her, and jumped back to his hammock.
"Hello!" She waved at the monkey and smiled. After the monkey jumped back up into his hammock she returned her attention over to Apu. "Cute monkey. How long have you had him?"
Apu thought for a moment. "Seven years, I think. It was a trip to Corbanis III. He was only a baby at the time."
"I see." Morgan nodded. "Anyways, before I get too distracted I need that report."
Apu pulled out an old-fashioned pad of paper and a marker. He wrote The Quartermaster has everything he needs for now. He signed it, ripped the top page off the pad and handed it to her. "There's my report."
Morgan was pretty entertained by what Apu had just done. She enjoyed a good laugh and she was getting just that here with this man. "I appreciate your report, Apu. But I think the Chief might have a bit of a problem with your delivery method."
"Then he can come talk to me about it. Tell him we can discuss it over a bottle of ale."
"Well for your sake, I won't tell him that." Morgan winked at him. "I would say I am going to leave so you can get back to your work but by the looks of it, doesn't seem like you got much going on." She smiled at her in a teasing manner.
"Not at the moment. Everyone's checked in, received their quarters and uniforms. The required stuff. So, things are a little slow today. But do not worry. They will pick up soon enough," he assured her. "And if you ever need anything, just come to me. I'll find it for you."
Morgan was pleased that the man had some bit of a serious side to him. At least he answered her straight this time instead of using a pad and a marker. "That's good to hear. If anything changes let me know." She looked down at her PADD, checking off another item that she had to do today.
"I'll be sure to send you a squisky," Apu said. "I'll attach a note to it." He chuckled. "I will see you again, Lieutenant."
"Yes you will." Morgan said nodding to the man then turned around and left the office. She didn't doubt his ability to get the work done but he did find him rather interesting. She would have to keep an eye on him, but for now she had a lot more stuff to do.
