Captain's Log, stardate 65101.83

If you'd asked me six months ago if I'd wanted a command position, I would have said, "No, thank you." For as long as I can remember I've always been interested in history and archaeology. That's all I've ever wanted to do with my life.

Yet, here I am, in command of my own starship. It wasn't even a conscientious decision. Captain Montgomery left for a series of training courses on Earth and put me in charge. First it was temporary, now it's permanent. And I love it.

What's even more amazing is I've found the man I want to spend the rest of my life with. Damon's everything I've ever needed, everything I've ever wanted. And what's more amazing is he doesn't realize how special he is.

It's like my Fairy Godmother came down, tapped me with her magic wand and said, "I'm going to give you everything you've ever dreamed of."

I have a remarkable crew. They have risen to every challenge placed before them. It has truly been a remarkable few months. And now, as we're about to embark on our first mission aboard the Calypso, I feel like I have everything to look forward to.
