[Holodeck 2]

Doctor Bowen straighten her brown jacket as she walked. She continued to follow a hiking trail through the mountains. Earlier, Leanne put on a casual, western style shirt and a pair of blue denim jeans as she prepared herself for some holodeck time, during her time off from work. She decided to do some hiking with the scenario based in Alaska.

Leanne looked up at the blue sky and watched the two eagles flying in a big circle. One would dive towards the water and swoop a fish in its mouth, before he came back up into the air. The other one did the same. Besides watching the birds, she looked into the distance at some gigantic mountains with a few snow at the peaks. Colder at high altitudes, she thought as she remembered taking some classes about Earth Geology.

She heard something and she whirled around to find a squirrel run up a tree, carrying his acorn. Then, looking down the path that she traveled, she didn't realize that she has gone a long ways of walking. I could have asked the Captain to join me, but she has to rest from that leg injury from rockclimbing. Hope this holodeck doesn't have a holo hiccup, she thought.

Karma strolled along the path and smiled as he took in the scenery. This wasn't the program he'd scheduled but he didn't mind. It was a pleasant scene and he liked the change. He turned a corner in the path and paused as he saw someone walking ahead of him. A moment later he recognized her and quickened his pace. "Hello," he said as he moved closer.

Leanne heard someone spoke and she grabbed her chest with a scare. "You almost gave me a heart attack. Who are you? Are you some hologram?"

"Hologram?" Karma asked. "I'm Karma, the Chief Intelligence Officer. May I ask why you're in my program?"

She frowned at him, "Excuse me? I believe this is my program...Alaska 101." She glanced around her to see if there was something odd of the program. "Unless there is holo hiccup that was suppose to be fixed."

"What are you talking about?" Karma asked. "I reserved Holodeck 1 and preset it for a camping trip in the Rockies."

"Um, this is holodeck 2 and I've set this program...," she took a deep breath. "I'm Leanne Bowen, Chief Medical Officer...couple of hours ago, I treated the Captain from a fall on holodeck 1. She told me that there was a holo hiccup and I think she means there is a glitch in it...it was suppose to been fixed already."

"Holodeck 2?" Karma asked looking around, though there was no way to tell which unit he was in. "Crap," he said to himself. "Sorry to intrude," he said, turning away from her. "Enjoy your hike," he called over his shoulder.

A sudden leave? "Hey, please don't leave. Since you are already here, why not join me for walk? I don't bite..."

Karma paused and looked at her for a moment. "I could use the exercise," he said, walking to stand beside her again. "You don't bite...but I do," he added with a wink, trying to lighten his embarrassment at entering the wrong holodeck.

"Oh, good." She felt a flutter in her stomach and wondering if she likes him. "It's no big deal about the mix up. It is nice to have company, thou. So, were you expecting someone in holodeck 1?" She started walking slowly.

"No I wasn't," Karma said to her. "I was just looking for a way to relax for a while. Camping in the middle of nowhere is always so peaceful for me."

"Camping sounds like fun...", she said.

"We can try it sometime," Karma said to her. "It's so much better in a real environment, though."

"I'm sure it is. I can take a raincheck on that," she stopped and realized of what she just said. She hoped it wasn't the wrong thing to say. Leanne took in his facial features of brown hair and brown eyes. "How come I haven't seen you before? Have you had your physical up-to-date?"

"It must have slipped my mind," Karma replied weakly. "I'll set up an appointment sometime soon." He paused and looked around at the scenery. "This is beautiful. I might have to change my camping program to use this area."

"Not a problem...I understand about the physical. Well, feel free to use this program anytime. I only use it once-in-awhile when I have the time," she smiled at him.

"What else do you do to relax?" Karma asked as he moved further down the trail.

Leanne caught up with him. "Rockclimbing, hiking, and chess. How about yourself?"

"I'm trying to teach myself to paint and play the violin," he said to her. He paused and held his hand out to her to help her over an obstruction in the trail.

She stopped and nearly hesitated to touch his hand. Go ahead, he is not going to bite you, Leanne, she said to herself. Grasping his hand, she felt a small electric jolt, wondering if she imagine that feeling. "Thanks," she replied after she let go of his hand after stepping over a large log.

"Are you any good at chess?" he asked, smiling at her. "I've never learned to play."

"Not an expert, if that is what you are asking. I only play for fun...not for competition. So, how good are you with a violin?" She looked at him for a few seconds before looking at the path again.

"Someone once told me a tone-deaf Ferengi singing a Klingon opera is easier to listen to than my violin," Karma said to her. He noticed her glances and smiled at her as he walked further down the trail, interested in seeing more of the scenery.

"Oh really? I find it interested in listening some Earth classics of the past. Some like Mozart can be real relaxing," Leanne said as she continue walking and keeping her eyes on the two eagles soaring the sky. The same eagles that she has seen before.

"I'm nowhere near that good," Karma admitted. "It might be better if I actually found some formal training." He paused and looked at her for a moment then followed her gaze to the eagles. "Must be nice to have a mate," he said, more to himself than to her.

"Oh," she said as she wasn't sure what to say. Leanne glanced at him while he was looking at the eagles, taking in of how his hair style is kept and a smooth chin. She would agree that he is good-looking.

"What else do you like to do?" Karma asked, turning to look at her again.

"Not a whole lot...I do like to spend time in holodecks like go swimming."

"I haven't been swimming in a long time," Karma said to her. "I'll have to add a lake to my camping program."

She giggled.

"What else is there to see in this program?" Karma asked her.

"We do have a lake down there," Leanne pointed. "Besides that, there is a cabin up this hill."

"We're not exactly dressed to go swimming," he said, looking her up and down with a smile. "Would you like to show me the cabin?"

She laughed quietly, taking that as a funny remark. "Sure, follow me..." Leanne went up an inclined hill that was a little tough on her legs and she worked them harder to walk upwards. By the time she reached the top, she looked at him huffing and puffing as he finally came to the top too. "Small cabin."

"You see small and I see cozy," he said to her after he caught his breath. "Is it furnished?"

Leanne walked up to the cabin door and opened it. "It has a couch, dining room table with two chairs, and a queen size bed."

Karma walked up to the door and leaned in to look, placing his hand on her back for support as he did. "It looks cozy. Ever spend any time in here?'

She swallowed hard when she felt his touch on her back as she tried to think. "Not much," she moved herself into the cabin to get his hand off her back, without showing any rudeness. She just wasn't sure if she is ready to be touched by a male. Her brain is sending a strange signal that something might be going on. Is he interested in dating? She wondered. This is not the right place to do so, she thought as she moved herself back outside. "Well, that's the cabin we have on this program. I think we better get back down the hill..."

Karma looked at her and nodded. "Would you mind if I ran this program again sometime so I could explore the area more?"

"Sure! Not a problem. If you come by sickbay, I can give you the program's information on a PADD for you to take. It has everything that...", she stopped in mid-sentence when her combadge went off. "Excuse me, lieutenant."

Leanne touched her combadge, "Doctor Bowen here."

"Doctor, sorry to call you on your off shift. Um, we have an emergency situation here...it is Doctor Hart...the new doctor."

"Oh, I'll be right over, Barbara. Bowen out," Leanne said. She looked at Karma, "Sorry, duty calls even on my time off. Maybe we can get together for a small dinner in the lounge?"

"That's sounds great," Karma replied. "Just let me know when."

"Cool thing, I'll let you know. Close this program when you leave...see you later...bye," she said as she turned around and rushed out the holodeck into the hallway.

Karma smiled at the quick departure then turned to look at the view again.
