ON

WO1 Casey Randall, looked through the viewing window of the Typhon's docking ring at his new posting, The USS Calypso. He knew from several old buddies that the Calypso's crew were being transferred from the Orion and was looking forward to meeting his new CO and the ship's Captain.

The Calypso was big, a Galaxy Class Starship that had just been refitted for her new role. He was to tell the truth excited about his posting aboard this beauty.

Casey straightened his uniform as he approached the Marine Commanding Officers Quarters and announced his presence using the door chime.

Damon was just putting the finishing touches on his office. For the last number of minutes he found himself occupied with straightening the board hanging on his wall with all of his campain tags. He was a shade frustrated because no matter how much he adjusted it, the frame never seemed to fit level. He tugged on it for the tenth time when the chime sounded in his office. "Enter." He said without looking at the door.

The door opened and Casey marchd in to stand at attention in front of the new bosses desk. "WO1 Casey Randall, reporting for duty, Sir". Casey's hand snapped to his head in a crisp salute as he spoke.

Casey was pleased to see he would not be serving under a wet behind the ears junior officer, Capt Raine had the tell tale battle scars of a seasoned warrior.

Damon looked over at the man and nodded. "At ease." Damon looked once more at the frame and shook his head admitting defeat for the time being. He pulled up his chair and finally regarded the man. "The new personnel files have managed to find themselves lost in a sea of crates. I have no information on you, so you are going to have to give me the run down."

"Chief Warrant Officer Casey Randall, Corps Liaison to the USS Calypso's Fighter Wing, Sir"
Casey smiled at the organised choas in the CO's Office, his quarters looked similar when he left them this morning.

"Parris Island '68, 95th Rifle in '71, 316th onboard the Nimitz in '74, 92nd MRRF in '77, MSGT in 80, Deridous IV, Flight School '81-82."

Casey had just given Capt Raine his Service History in a nutshell, pausing to let the CO take it in he then continued.

"After Flight school I served with the 9th Air Cav as Dropship pilot."

"Advanced Flight School then saw me posted to the 2nd Bn, Pathfinders in Broadswords.

"Division HQ feels that the unique assignment of your Marine Detachment requires a Close Air Support Element, I've been sent as a Marine Soldier as well as a Marine Pilot."

Damon nodded at the information relayed to him. "Did you see combat durring the war?"

"Yes Sir." Casey didn't feel he needed to go into details, MAJ Raine would get around to reading his pers file.

"Good." Damon said with a smile. "We could use a pilot who can keep his composure durring a shit storm."

Damon paused a moment before continuing. "I want you to keep in mind, however, that most of the men and women in this company are pretty young and have no idea what combat is like, let alone tactical warfare. They will be relying on the old blood for advice and, more importantly, dirrection. I hope you are up to the challenge of being a role model in addition to a soldier."

"Comes with the rank sir. I see you're busy, I should introduce myself to the Ship's Captain and the Wing Commander"

"By your leave, Sir" Casey straightened up and saluted, the brief nod from the Maj, was Casey's cue to leave, and with precise drill movements, was out the door. Marching down the corridor.
