Timeline: Before Not So Friendly Welcome

Kalyka had just got out of her meeting with the captain and thought it might be a good idea to meet her staff before starting on the checklist. At exactly 0830 hours Kalyka stood in engineering meeting everyone. After hearing everyone's names she addressed the issues facing the department.

"Everyone on deck 2 says when they order any kind of coffee other than raktajino they get orange juice. And since this is a new ship, we have a checklist to go through."

Kenta nodded. "I've already started on that, ma'am. Decks 1 through 5 are done."

Kalyka quirked a corner of her mouth in a half-smile. "And the replicators?"

He shook his head. "Still looking for the source."

Kalyka wasn't pleased. "Must be a virus somewhere. Try to find it as soon as possible. Any other surprises?"

Kajinski spoke up. "Turbolift 24 won't stop on deck 7."

Now Kalyka was getting really annoyed. "Anything else?" she asked.

"Just the checklist," Kajinski replied.

The Bajoran nodded. "Alright. Javil, work on the replicators on Deck 2. Doran, fix the turbolift and the rest of us will pair off to go through the checklist. Have the transporters been checked yet?"

"Not yet, ma'am." Until now, all Javil had said was his name. "We were waiting for your orders."

"Have the transporter chiefs check them and the computer specialist can check the computers."

Kenta saw where she was going. "What about the warp core and impulse engines? Should we have all the specialists check their areas?"

Meral smiled. "My thoughts exactly." She consulted her padd again. Nothing else was there. "Any other surprises or pranks they left for us?"

Javil shook his head. "Not that we know of, ma'am."

"Good. Then let's get to work. Kajinski, you're with me." They filed out of engineering, ready for a long day."
