Andrew sat down to his morning cup of steamy coffee and was reading over his latest posting assignment. He was posted to the U.S.S Calypso in the Theta fleet. 'That's Ironic' He thought to himself. Here he was about to take his next posting aboard a Galaxy class starship, with his brother having just Taken command of his own.
Andrew took a sip of his coffee and began reading through the crew report. Commander Samantha York, Commander John Sheridan and the rest of the Calypso Crew. All seemed well for the moment, the crew was well trained, all departments were filled and yet still no sign of any of them.
''It says here that engineer Meral Is on Typhon station.'' Andrew said to himself quietly
Taking another sip of his coffee he put the PAD down and looked out of the screen to his right, down at the handful of ships docked, all being re fitted and re jigged ready for there next cruises. 'Perhaps the crew is transfering over from those ships.....perhaps.'
He had begun to day dream again.
A blonde Bajoran was looking a little lost. She saw a man sitting alone, seemingly staring out over the promenade. "Excuse me. Could you point me to the nearest holodeck?" She had a small serene smile on her face that seemed inviting.
Andrew looked up curiously at the blonde woman standing before him and smiled. He had taken note that the woman was at least half Bajoran due to the very distinguished ridges on her nose, also the yellow garment signified either engineer or operations.
''Ahem...'' Andrew stood up and extended a hand. ''Lieutenant Andrew Argyle, Chief of opperations U.S.S Calypso, sort of.'' He joked.
''If I'm to be honest with you, I really don't have any idea where the holodeck is. I've only just transferred here myself. Who, may I ask am I meeting?''
He said grinning widely.
The woman's smile widened, and took his hand, wrapping her thumb around his. "LtJG Kalyka Meral. Pleasure to meet you. You are going to be onboard the Calypso?" She did not sit down because she had not yet been asked. Then again, he may have things to do. "I'm about to be the Chief Engineer there. Seems we will be working closely together."
Andrew released the woman from his soft grip and motioned towards the table. ''Where are my manners, do forgive me.'' He commented. Andrew followed her into his seat and picked up his coffee. Taking a few sips of the now lukewarm brown liquid in his mug and his entire face seemed to twitch as he did so.
''Oh....My goodness, thats really cold now.'' Regaining his composure he looked at the young woman sitting with him and cocked a half smile, now a little bit embarrassed. ''So do you prefer Kalyka or Meral?'' In an attempt to draw the subject.
"Kalyka if you don't mind. Usually only people close to me call me Meral." A waitress appeared by the table. "A darjeeling tea, please, with honey and lemon." As the waitress left, Kalyka turned back to Argyle. "What about you? I've heard men named Andrew go by different things. I knew an Andy and a Drew, and even one who preferred to go by his middle name."
''I don't really mind to be honest. Andy, Andrew.....Its really all the same to me you can call me what you want.''
As the waitress came over he picked his mug up and smiled at her. ''Sure thing sugar'' came the response as she made her way back..
''So Kalyka is a bit of an unusual name. What province dose it come from?''
"I'm from the southern portion of Kendra Province. It's mostly farms and fishing villages." She put a small pack of honey in her tea and a small squeeze of lemon before stirring it and taking a sip. She smiled; for once it came out just right. "So what about you? Where do you come from? Mars? Earth?" She put up a hand. "Don't tell me. You were born on one of the ships," she joked.
Someone called to Kalyka; it was her friend Kajinski. "I should go. I'll see you on the Calyspo." She got up and left, since he seemed just content to stare into his coffee. Kalyka wasn't in the mood to watch someone stare into their drink.
