The cliff face was uneven and when she hit it, she felt her ribs crack. ~Now Damon won't let me rock climb, either~ she through with an ironic laugh. ~And he was worried about me going through the cave!~ If she were lucky, they'd just be bruised. She hung in her harness for several seconds while she caught her breath. Then she carefully untangled herself from the rope.

When Sam had everything straightened out, she half rappelled, half walked down the rest of the way, landing harder than she would have liked on a patch of rock at the base of the cliff.
f the cliff until he was within mere feet of Sam. Despite not being far away he still had to speak loudly to be heard over the howling wind. "How are your fingers?" He asked. Scrapes, cuts and bruises aren't uncommon when climbing, however, an almost universal rule is not to mess around with damaged fingers on a climb, even if is a seemingly minor injury.
"I'm good," she lied. "Let's find the two men and get them to safely," she hollered back. She then tapped her combadge and contacted the Marines on the ropes. "Off belay. Leave the ropes in case we need to climb back up."
Though the distance wasn't far, the comm channel already was starting to degrade. The response came back a little weak and clouded with light static. "Copy that Commander. Good hunting."
Trent nodded at the words though didn't respond. He quickly loosed his gear and pulled his weapon around so that both hands were resting on it. "After you, Commander." He said, looking at Sam.

Kara led the inside team through the caves as quickly as she could. As a scout, she could tell which tunnels seemed more stable, but she used the tricorder to make sure she kept going in the right direction. They only took a wrong turn twice before ending up at what seemed the best location. The tunnel veered slightly towards the outside wall before turning and heading in and down again. She sent a team to follow the tunnel for a few hundred yards, just in case it looped back on itself, and began to check the integrity of the wall to determine how much explosive was needed.
By the time the other team had returned, she'd marked the wall for where the explosives should go.
"The tunnel goes down under the sand, but turns the wrong way," one of the Marines reported.
Kara nodded. "Thanks." She looked at Leanne and Karma. "Get back out of the way. I'll need your help once we blow through the wall."
Leanne Bowen moved back several feet while holding the first aid kit, waiting for the okay signal to move forward. She realizes how dangerous this can be, but being with the away team can have risks too.
Karma moved back slightly so he wouldn't be in the way but he kept an eye on the action.
Kara and the other Marines set the charges with a two-minute delay and hurried back up the tunnel to wait for the explosion.
