Mission:
What Lies Beneath?
Location: de Fresa's quarters
Timeline: current
ON
Suzette walked into her quarters, which had been specially set up with holoemitters to make it appear to be 2-dimensional and sat down on her sofa.
He shift had been eventful. Something she rarely experienced. Once again, it involved the lounge. That place seemed to be a magnet for trouble. Especially late at night. Or was it only when she was there?
Granted, she had been to the lounge on several occasions when nothing happened – except that the lounge manager thought she was incredibly strange. That wasn't unusual. Most people did. Except for the security officer. He'd gone as far as to follow her to the turbolift. He was interested in her. Well, interested in how a two-dimensional person could exist in a three-dimensional world. She wondered that herself. Often. Sometimes she wished she could become 3D and be like everyone else. Or find a way back to her own reality.
But, that was not to be. Or not likely, at any rate. So, she made the most of what she had, spent her time avoiding people – and dogs – and was relatively happy.
Until tonight. Tonight, when that security officer had followed her out of the lounge and to the lift. Made her think about being 'unique.'
It also made her think about changing from gamma shift bridge crew to something less hectic. Something like stellar cartography. She'd studied that in the Academy. It was a quiet place. She could work whenever she wanted and still be out of the way. The idea appealed to her.
She fixed herself a pancake and a cup of milk, ate, and went to bed. Tomorrow she would write a letter to Commander York.
